Democrats make significant gains in (VA) House of Delegates contests
Richmond Times Dispatch ^ | 7 Nov | Michael Martz

Democrats appeared poised to make huge gains in the Republican-controlled House of Delegates — and potentially take control of the chamber for the first time in 18 years — as strong voter turnout put a slew of GOP incumbents in danger of losing their seats.

The biggest upsets occurred early in Northern Virginia, where Democrat Danica Roem became the first transgender person elected to the House of Delegates, defeating social conservative Del. Robert G. Marshall, R-Prince William, and Democrat Lee Carter shocked House Republican Whip Jackson H. Miller, R-Manassas, despite tepid support from his own party.

Trump should close down many of the government buildings in N VA and build them in DE, or MD, or better still in places like VT,

said the same.
A cross dresser beats a conservative in a conservative area. something smells there.
This fraud crap has to be addressed since the Dems will be out in force getting their dead people, college kids voting in multiple states etc to vote. Hell they even make up names and SS to vote.

How did Gillespie win the Primary? He had already lost a statewide Senate election. Was there nobody better to run?

Ain’t that the truth. Just yesterday freepers were posting about the NFL and telling us they are still watching it, and when I said something I was told conservatives are free thinkers. Yea right more like some freepers can;t even give up the NFL due to their selfish views.

I think this a result of the Republicans doing absolutely nothing the past year. Trump tried to get a lot done and did, but judges were a headache. GOP deserved to lose even the conservatives because they didn’t do a thing either. The House and Senate should have just taken the year off.....no difference anyway. Judges are the only thing they did well and they need to speed up. If we are not getting a wall, tax reform, Obamacare repeal, infrastructure, the Wall then judges are our only positive to get done. They should just quite all work and focus on getting judges confirmed. They will come in handy when Dems take over everything.

No. In fact, we lost good conservatives all over Virginia and everywhere last night and they were not in N VA either. The majority were outside of that area. We have to admit that we screwed up as a conservative group. Many on FR refused to go to vote last night due to the top choice of governor....God forbid they at least vote down ticket. Oh no that is against their principles. Spit.

DC Metro has stated they need $500M in annual revenue form regions to operate....and that the revenue stream must be “bondable”

In other words, they will borrow all the money they can today based on a future revenue stream from service which may or may not be provided in a quality manner or at a reasonable price.

What they aren’t admitting is the pension funding problem that they have. I suspect that’s where most of the money is going to go.

Virginia is a Blue State.
Using football analogies, the Defense forced a punt on a 3rd and 40.

"Republicans stayed home because the party bites"

No. Gillespie got more votes than Cuccinelli 4 years ago. race very closely tracked the 2016 pattern. R win in the mountains, rural and way out exurbs. Dems in NOVA, inner burbs and Richmond.

Nothing else

D.C. needs to be it's own entity. It should not be part of any state. Move the capital to the bootheel of Missouri, and let that land be the nation's capital. The bootheel is over 900 square miles, which is plenty of room for everybody. Also make a law that people who work in the nation's capital must live in the nation's capital. What's left of D.C. should be returned to VA and MD, or declared a historical site. The capital has too much influence on VA's elections.

You are correct in ur statement and they really should stay in D.C. The main reason we have so many folks in Virginia is to look at the past 28 years of the presidents we have had in office. Does not look good at all.

What we have is a spending problem so we need to cut the spending and we have a GOP Led House and a GOP led Senate. Oh heck, I guess I forgot that this may not ever happen.

Exactly. This is immigration in action. Virginia has been flooded by third world immigrants over the last 20 years. It’s amazing how few American born people you see in many areas of Northern Virginia today.

The same thing will happen in the next few years to Georgia, Florida, Texas and other states.

Conservatives waited too late to rebel over immigration. Trump in 2016 was 20 years after Pat Buchanan challenged Bob Dole. Never forget the filth who opposed Buchanan. Rush Limbaugh, Bill Buckley and the rest of them are responsible for this.

The US born children of post 2000 immigrants are not even voting yet. Wait until that happens.

As a Jewess on the US, I can only point out that the number of women who allegedly DATED, but had no sex with, Roy Moore is EXACTLY the same number who accused President Clinton of FORCIBLE RAPE, a FAR more serious offense. Now we know why all REAL Americans put our 2nd Amendment FIRST. Just sayin’!

“Kinda funny that Northam was not the Dem’s ordained candidate. They got stuck with him.”

I recall reading that Northam flirted with switching to the Republican Party a few years ago. The race involved a centrist Democrat (who is much less odious than outgoing governor Terry McAuliffe) against an establishment Republican. Many rural voters who went with Trump last year stayed home for this election.

Cuccinelli was considered much more far right than Gillespie. Gillespie did himself no favors by embracing the Trump approach in his advertising. Trump does himself no honor by saying Gillespie did not embrace his issues in his advertising. For the immediate future, the NOVA population will outnumber the stronger R areas, and merely sticking to the Trump program will not win elections there.

Then there is the case for Trump immigration policy as personified by the outcome of Strong anti illegal immigrant activity in Virginia’s Prince William County. With 6 Republican delegates up for reelection in PWC, five were defeated by Democrats.
The first link below describes the VA election results with a link to Prince William Co. The second link is a detailed analysis in 2009 of the actions and outcomes of the crackdown policy in PWC.
