Trump failed on this one. The basic rule on nominating anyone for any government post is...1) The word “Professor” anywhere in any job title currently or previously held by the projected nominee is an automatic disqualifier for the position.

So everyday folks can buy muskets...and criminals get all the semi's. That's fair.

And by the way Winslow...The guy was stopped by a semi.

Funny, coming from a retired Air Force Colonel. It was the incompetence of the Airforce that allowed that scumbag to have guns in the first place.

Tell us again how great the government is jerkoff.

Well, yes. But just what exactly is an “assault” rifle as compared to one that is not? The military has “assault” rifles. Civilians have semi-automatic rifles that have similar accessories and appearance, but are not “assault”.

It is this confused thinking and focus on appearances that lead to the so-called ban on “assault” weapons where a rifle with a threaded barrel and a bayonet adapter was illegal but one without the adapter or threaded barrel was perfectly legal. As if too many inner city blacks in Chicago were bayoneted each weekend. Or killed by the 40mm grenades that can be launched from a real “assault” weapon.

It is also such confused thinking that thinks a 7mm Remington Mag with a nice walnut stock to be acceptable but an AR15 with a flash suppressor to be scarey. People who evaluate reality on this basis are scary to me.

Did he ever mention Assault trucks, SUVs. propane tanks, Pressure cookers, Etc.?
Is he saying a person like Stephen Willeford has no right to possess his weapon of choice.
The US government screwed the pooch in not tagging, the shooter!
How long before we hear from Bowe Bergdaul? Can he purchase a gun today?

Kelley reportedly used a Ruger AR-556, which is similar in style to an AR-15.

Aww the A.R.9000 is way better than both of 'em.

We need firearms to protect ourselves from self-righteous pricks like the Dean Winslow’s of the world. His kind would round us all up and shove us into camps if they could. And we all know what happens after that.

Pull this ahole’s nomination and send him back to the People’s Republic of California.

This is getting redundant. There is so much hell raising about the guy getting a gun when you can buy the same thing on the street without any background check in any major city, or minor one, in the US. Anyone can get a gun. The trick is to be qualified to sell one and do the work to get it sold legally.

The military does not broadcast it’s business findings in the open and the discharge papers, the DD 214, contain a code that targets the reason for discharge. And if a person is discharged under less than honorable conditions, why didn’t this raise a red flag as to the persons privilege to own a gun? If they had looked, they would have seen that the offence that got him out would have taken away his right to bear.

It wouldn’t have stopped him from getting a gun, illegally, but when you consider the Obama Adminstration flooded the market with illegal weapons to try to catch cartel members. “fast and furious”, what’s one more? And before you libs out there go after me to protect that lying illegal, Fast and Furious began under the Obama administration, dating its inception to October 2009. (Obama took office in January 2009.) This was collaborated in a report by the Obama people and the US justice department. This directly contradicts Obama’s claim. He and Holder did it and it cost lives. But is it any different than selling guns illegally?

And if you take them away from the common citizens following the law, only the criminals will have them. So the good guy who shot the bad guy to save lives, would have been unarmed. More would have died. Justify that one.

Wrong guy for the job.

He’s going to push for mental health exams and weapon registration/confiscation.

His abortion push is to combat existing lousy decisions regarding assignments for women in the military.

Citizens can as they have for many decades buy various rifles and or pistols.
Civilians can not buy military weapons.
That has not changed in many decades!
If a Pentagon nominee makes this comment they are certainly not a qualified candidate!
