Moore: I'm Not Going Anywhere

Despite calls for Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore to step down if the allegations of sexual misconduct are true, Moore said he’s not going anywhere.

The Senate candidate released a statement about Thursday’s report in the Washington Post that he stands accused of inappropriate sexual behavior with a minor in 1979, questioning the allegations based on their timing since he’s been in public service for more than 40 years and the political motivations of the paper, given that they have already endorsed his opponent.

NEW: @MooreSenate statement on @washingtonpost report: #RoyMoore pic.twitter.com/kX17YRKDcK — Brooke Singman (@brookefoxnews) November 9, 2017 However, several other women also came forward with allegations that Moore “pursued them when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s, episodes they say they found flattering at the time, but troubling as they got older," the Post reported.

Nevertheless, Moore doubled down Thursday night on Twitter.

“The Obama-Clinton Machine’s liberal media lapdogs just launched the most vicious and nasty round of attacks against me I’ve EVER faced! We are are [sic] in the midst of a spiritual battle with those who want to silence our message,” he wrote.

“The forces of evil will lie, cheat, steal –– even inflict physical harm –– if they believe it will silence and shut up Christian conservatives like you and me,” he continued. “I believe you and I have a duty to stand up and fight back against the forces of evil waging an all-out war on our conservative values! Our nation is at a crossroads right now — both spiritually and politically.”

“Our children and grandchildren’s futures are on the line. So rest assured — I will NEVER GIVE UP the fight!” he added.

Leigh Corfman says she was 14 years old when an older man approached her outside a courtroom in Etowah County, Ala. She was sitting on a wooden bench with her mother, they both recall, when the man introduced himself as Roy Moore. It was early 1979 and Moore — now the Republican nominee in Alabama for a U.S. Senate seat — was a 32-year-old assistant district attorney...Alone with Corfman, Moore chatted with her and asked for her phone number, she says. Days later, she says, he picked her up around the corner from her house in Gadsden, drove her about 30 minutes to his home in the woods, told her how pretty she was and kissed her. On a second visit, she says, he took off her shirt and pants and removed his clothes. He touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear...Two of Corfman’s childhood friends say she told them at the time that she was seeing an older man, and one says Corfman identified the man as Moore. Wells says her daughter told her about the encounter more than a decade later, as Moore was becoming more prominent as a local judge. (Washington Post)

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Chairman of the National Republican Senate Committee Cory Gardner, and other prominent Republicans are calling for Moore drop out of the special Senate election in Alabama if the allegations are true.

You totally missed the point of the comment to which you responded so intemperately. The poster hoped it was true that the FRAUD against Moore was going to be exposed.

This Roy Moore story came from @SenateMajLdr. And I dare him to deny that.

Respected pollster Richard Barris says on twitter:

This Roy Moore story came from @SenateMajLdr. And I dare him to deny that.

Right before he beat Luther Strange, Team McConnell were telling donors they had someone on Moore dealing regarding sex and an underage woman. And a donor told me.

Moore should announce (Tweet, maybe) that the charges are scurrilous and false political attacks and that he will not be responding to these or similar "surprises" henceforth.

And then stick with it.

Moore should immediately institute a multi million lawsuit against the wapo and the whore. Probably won’t go anywhere, but would show the voters his heart is in the right place.

Yes, this is just so ridiculous.

Your comments dredged up a memory for me. As a girl of about 14, I had a “relationship” with a handsome man who was about 30, I suppose. He drove a commercial bus and had some sort of layover near my school bus stop when my younger sister and I got off our school bus in the afternoons.

He made some comment to me one day. Although I can’t remember what it was, I am sure it was innocent but meant to let me know he found me attractive. If he had said something inappropriate, I would have turned my back and walked away.

I was tall and pretty good-looking, and, until we actually conversed, he probably thought I was older than I was. For about a week or so, I chatted with him after school. He remained seated in his driver’s seat, as my sister and I stood on the sidewalk. It was silly but slightly flirtatious conversation between a grown man and an intellectually mature but emotionally giddy girl.

Alas, our “relationship” ended, as he had just been filling in that week for some older, unattractive guy who showed up the following week. This episode occurred back in the days when innocent flirtation was possible.

No, the poster hopes that it’s true that the $1,000 bribe offer was captured on tape. This will exonerate Judge Moore & discredit the WaPo.

Now THIS is the kind of man we need in the party - no linguini-spined weak sisters who will roll over and run when someone brings down heat from the twitter-verse.

I read it as one woman recorded the Washington Post offering her $1,000 to make up a story about Roy Moore and is going to the DA about it.

I do hope it’s true.

I agree. Or, at least in cahoots. It behooves Moore to put blame onto Dems, for now.

I think he means some woman has recorded the WaPo reporter offering her a bribe. Not conceivable that recordings of Moore from forty years ago would exist.

He was on the Alabama Supreme Court for Pete’s sake, and not a word about this.

It's a good point - I assume he would have been checked out thoroughly by the ABA and other organizations, looking for any dirt on him. None of these women thought to speak up then, when he was about to take a seat on a state Supreme Court?

Would a child molester actually introduce himself? I would think they keep their identity hidden. But then what do I know about these matters.

“BOYCOTT AMAZON!”

My boycotts have collided with each other... I never patronized Amazon until I wanted to boycott Time-Warner/CNN and ESPN by cutting the cable (TV). I had to buy a FireStick and Amazon account to stream some alternative stuff.

That said, still looking for another way to shutout Amazon entirely.

I do see Wal-MArt going to war with Amazon on various consumer fronts, support the WM effort where you can.
