VESTAVIA HILLS, Alabama — Judge Roy Moore, the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate here in Alabama, received a standing ovation from veterans and Republican supporters here at a public library at his first public event since the Washington Post smeared him earlier this week. Moore’s condemnation of the Post came towards the end of a nearly 30-minute rousing speech honoring veterans and standing up for the principles of the United States just outside Birmingham here on Saturday morning. “Now I want to address something that some people have come here to hear about,” Moore said in front 50 or so supporters, turning his attention to the giant pack of media who came to Alabama to report on this. “Shortly after becoming the Republican nominee for the United States Senate, the Washington Post began an attack on the Foundation for Moral Law, on my wife, and on me.

It's not taking long for the truth to come out. This was before the latest revelations about $1000 WaPo offers for dirt, the slimy reporters who wrote the hit piece, the grift-ism of Corfman, or the ardent left-ism of Gibson.

Lord God, I fervently pray this boomerangs on Shelby, Lee, McCain, McConnell, and Corker.

Roy Moore is standing up to the smearing and calls for his withdrawal just like President Trump did. Like President Trump, the People will see through the lies and elect him.

Corfman has been in bankruptcy three times so yeah she would be happy to screw a good man for money.

It used to be that the most popular fake news character assassination political joke for the longest time was false accusations aimed at political opponent just before an election.

One of the sleaziest practitioner of it was Barbara Boxer, who practiced the fine art in Marin County, CA 50 years ago.
The California snake is now retired, but her legacy (finally) lives on...

The RINOs have exposed their true feelings about the rule of law — they don’t support it, apparently, a mere accusation totally unprobed in a court of law is enough to get them to lynch the judge.

This whole new “thing” about prominent men being subjected to untested allegations in the court of public opinion has got to stop, if there’s a legal case to be made, then make it, otherwise, we are just basically gossiping about things that nobody can prove or disprove.

One thing that has been left out of the discussion is how dating...or courting has changed in the last 40 years.

Also how marriages have changed.

It wasn’t too long ago the men would be 5-15 years older than their wives.
It wasn’t too long ago...especially in the South were a young lady was considered an old maid if she wasn’t married by the time she was 20.

Google: History age of consent in US.

In the 1880’s it used to be 10 or 12 year olds who could consent...So someone looking to date a girl in 1970 or early 1980’s who was 14, 16 or 17 ...now looks a bit weird...But back then...it wasn’t weird at all.

With these facts in mind, it makes a lot more sense for a young man in his 30’s to be noticing and even dating a teen...especially wth the consent of the girls mother or father.

Sorry to disagree, but seriously, I was a teen in mid 70s and my parents would have had a fit had a 30-something man come to the door for a date.* No way would he ever have returned if he had gotten an earful and evil eye from my rather authoritarian father LOL.

Sorry, in the 1970s, girls under the age of 18 were referred to as “jailbait” in my circle of friends.

There are many angles to this story, but I don’t agree with the idea that in the 70s it was OK for a 30-32 year old to date an 18? year old...I have seen a few others who feel this should be included in the discussion, but I think Moore would be making a mistake to try to use this in the discussion unless he was apologizing for misguided youthful actions...

*My parents were from the Midwest, I was mostly raised in the Midwest, but still, I don’t think things were all that different south of the Mason Dixon line—not to sound like a snob, but if this type of dating was prevalent, I doubt it was accepted in in middle class and upper middle class families—and Moore being an attorney was middle class/upper middle class. I lived in Tennessee for a few years in the early 80s—in Knoxville, and a 30-something dating a teen would not have been anything but an embarrassment in my circles.

I remember back around 35 years ago an E8 Gunny Sargent in the Marines who was a personal friend at the time went back to his hometown in the Deep South (I think it was AL) on vacation and came back with a new wife. They had been in contact for a long time and decided to tie the knot and move her to where he was living in Oceanside, CA near Camp Pendelton where he was stationed at the time. She was easily 20 years younger than him so being a close enough friend I asked if that was common in the Deep South. He was a little vague but he did say it wasn’t uncommon. Different cultures in different areas I guess.

My take was they didn’t view age the same way I did and all that mattered was they were happy. This wasn’t an isolated incident either. I saw it again with another couple who met, hit it off, got married, then moved to Phoenix after an earthquake. The woman was at least 25 years younger in that case but neither one was from the Deep South. Neither of these guys were rich but their income was enough that the lady didn’t have to work if she didn’t want to. To my knowledge both couples lived happily ever after.

It would take a special woman for me to consider being with someone that much younger simply because of the life experience difference but some people can be old souls with far more wisdom than their age would seem to allow sometimes.

I wonder if this whole thing goes deeper, and Weinstein, Spacey were unwitting pawns sacrificed by the DNC to stoke up this culture of condemning men for allegations without trials, just so they had cover to go after Moore.

Don’t know about long term relationships, but it is not uncommon for a guy of 30+ to be interested in sex with an 18 year old. Legal, too. “15 will get you 20” is the phrase to point out that she MUST be 16 in most states or else it become rape. Unless someone is both a pedophile AND a fool, they try hard to avoid anyone close to being below 16.

..”Lord God, I fervently pray this boomerangs on Shelby, Lee, McCain, McConnell, and Corker.”...

And, you are certainly not alone. Remember when Sean Hannity was accused by some woman who was trying to get him fired from Fox News? He went public and promised to fight her false accusation in court. After that, she was not heard from again. Jeff Bezos, the owner of Amazon and the Washington Post, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and a couple of others I can’t remember right now, so I read the other day, have more money than the lower 50% of the people in this country. Why did Bezos buy the Washington Post? Was it to take over our system of government and to ruin every conservative law maker there is? Is that why only our President seems to be standing against the swamp? I hope the people of Alabama will not take this evil manipulation of their representative and their state lying down. I would imagine it is very easy to pay people to make up lies when you have a media and a population who will not question anyone who makes sexual claims. WOW! Just think of the political profit that brings. Whomever makes those claims should be as strongly investigated as the person the claim is made against and that includes all of them. The media today would not have anything to talk about if 95% of it was not fiction.

In the 60’s, 70’s.....in the South.....maybe not the norm, but not unusual.

For that matter, older men have dated younger women ....since forever....in every part of our country.

Loretta Lynn was 13 ish......her husband in his mid to late 20’s.....she is from Kentucky

This is all a tempest in a teapot!

I was a teen in the 70s. My girlfriend & I we’re both 16. She started dating a 30 year old man with her parents consent. My mother on the other hand disapproved of what my friend’s parents were allowing. I could no longer be friends with her. Deb married her man right after our high school graduation.

Unfortunately that's not likely. Moore will win and he'll enter the Senate with this cloud over his head. The GOP Senate leadership will use it as an excuse to marginalize him and ignore him, and in 2020 they will have their ready-made excuse to primary him. Worst case for McConnell is two years of Moore being a thorn in his side. And if somehow the Democrat wins, well, McConnell can live with two years of that too.

I think it's a matter of culture and environment, what was acceptable dating practice. I think back to a situation in the 1970s where a HS teacher in his late 20s proposed to and soon married a Senior on her graduation day. A HS classmate of mine married a 27 year old the February after our 1963 HS graduation....they've been happily married since.

It depends on the laws of the time who is considered jailbait. I'd think that at this time and place, the outrage should be on sex trafficking, which by some accounts is out of control, in part because of young girls entering the US illegally and being victimized.
