So cinc orders a strike on an orphanage but it the general who calls the missile officer is the one issuing an illegal order?

At least he could have said “any president” rather than singling out Trump. Thus he’s taken sides against Trump. Lotsa lock buster.

The general is correct. We as officers are taught to seek clarification of unclear orders. You want some checks and balances right? Yes, the general is correct. We as military officers are not to follow illegal orders. There is no I was following orders defense.

This differentiates us from say the Soviets or the Chinese with their authoritarian command structure. We are far superior because we ask all to think with their brains.

Any protocols we have for nuclear launch probably shouldn’t be discussed on the news. Also, active generals probably shouldn’t be playing into the hands of political inquisitors.

The media is twisting this to make him sound insubordinate. Read the whole thing he said:
***
“I provide advice to the president, he will tell me what to do,” Hyten added. “And if it’s illegal, guess what’s going to happen? I’m going to say, ‘Mr. President, that’s illegal.’ And guess what he’s going to do? He’s going to say, ‘What would be legal?’ And we’ll come up options, with a mix of capabilities to respond to whatever the situation is, and that’s the way it works. It’s not that complicated.”

Hyten said he has been trained every year for decades in the law of armed conflict, which takes into account specific factors to determine legality — necessity, distinction, proportionality, unnecessary suffering and more. Running through scenarios of how to react in the event of an illegal order is standard practice, he said.

The mainstream media is simply trying to attack President Donald Trump by making him look like a psycho hellbent on nuking everyone, which is the whole purpose of their asking these types of questions.

Did they even once ask this to a general under Barack Obama?

There is no such thing as an illegal command given by the Command in Chief, General.

Nothing could be further from the truth. That stance lost ALL of its luster during the Nuremberg Trials.

And what other orders would this commander “resist?”

He needs to be relived of his command.

In the General’s defense, this is Fake News. The General was stupid to answer the way he did.

I’ve noticed sites using Disquis for comment management have consistently failed to load said comments in a timely manner; if at all, since the advent of President Trump. Is it just me or is this widespread?

And just like that, an O-10 slot opens up.

No chance. The USCG Commandant was openly insubordinate. He still has his slot. The USAF Academy commander made a fool of the of USAF in that racist incident. He still has his slot. Bergdahl verdit is apparently being affirmed by JAG chain of command. Those clowns still have their slots, etc., etc.

The military is totally corrupted by PC and Trump hate. No chance this guy is removed. Guaranteed.

I have re-read the article and nowhere do I see a quote naming President Trump. There is no context to the general’s comments. I think this is CBS trying to infer that the holder’s of the nuclear code don’t trust Trump. Like I said this is really outrageous.

Fire him.

It is not up to him to decide what is legal or illegal.

Get rid of him.
