Re: “white supremacist extremism poses a persistent threat of lethal violence, and white supremacists were responsible for 49 homicides in 26 attacks from 2000 to 2016—more than any other domestic extremist movement.”

I’d be curious as to what is defined as “white supremacist”. Also, weren’t 3000 people killed September 11th - wasn’t THAT domestic terrorism? Yes, the perps where foreign nationals but it was committed on our own soil.

WOW - is he ever on the ball! That will do the job all right. Make domestic terrorism against the law and it will work as good as all the gun control laws he supports and proposes! Good going, Dick! >>no pun<<

white supremacists were responsible for 49 homicides in 26 attacks from 2000 to 2016—more than any other domestic extremist movement.

Here's the Joint Intelligence Bulletin Durbin is basing this claim on. The diagram summing up the stat is vague about what incidents are being alleged and what sources are being used. When I dug up a detailed breakdown on this type of stat a few months ago, I found a lot of fudging going on to downplay the number of Islamist attacks. The stat is also based on ignoring incidents such as Orlando, Mandalay Bay, the Dallas Black Lives Matter rally sniper attack on police, etc.

Bottom line: Leftists fear the citizens of their own country. Why? Because they know the crap they do to the average person will eventually elicit a reaction.
Let's be honest here--the typical individual that identifies with the Leftist meme regards others as tools to be used, and has a deep seated fear that said tool will eventually do them in after multiple instances of abuse.

U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) today introduced new legislation to address the growing threat of white supremacist groups and other violent domestic extremists.

Who is he talking about? The Islamists, most of whom are white and all of whom have an overbearing desire to wipe out anyone not of their religion?

In a way, this is just an extension of Obamaism. There were a lot of warnings and scary talk about "right-wing domestic terrorists" but never any real description of who those terrorists might be. Meanwhile, Islamic terrorists grew more emboldened and violent every day.

Liberals will never address the issue of terrorism. They'll use the word to scapegoat the people they want to wipe out anyway, but they will never confront real terrorism. And so the problem just keeps growing.

...the federal government’s efforts to prevent domestic terrorism by requiring federal law enforcement agencies to regularly assess those threats and provide training and resources to assist state, local, and tribal law enforcement...

Did it ever occur to Durbin that maybe the "state, local, and tribal law enforcement" might be better positioned to "provide training and resources to assist... federal law enforcement agencies?"
