What I heard is that he talked to them about he and his wife’s plans to find a surrogate.

Sounds like it is being morphed into asking for sex.

This is stupid. Obviously he and his wife were struggling. He discussed it with women he knew. Should have asked them? No. That said, unless he harassed them or asked them to do it via him engaging in intercourse, there is no reason to step down. An apology is good enough. IF this is all there is to it, Paul Ryan is ridiculous for lumping him in with Conyers and Franken.

He should stay put... democrats don’t care about women ... this was designed as a stunt to use against President Trump.

I guess the only positive here is that people not paying that much attention will think that Al Franken was looking for surrogate mothers. Similar surnames.

Franks and his wife, Josephine, have been married since 1980; they are members of the North Phoenix Baptist Church. Franks’ wife, Josephine, is an immigrant. In August 2008, a donor egg and surrogate were used to give birth to their twins, Joshua Lane and Emily Grace.

I have a theory on all of these resignations. Someone contacted these guys and said we know “....” about you. You can resign and go home with reputation intact or we’ll make the information public.

Whatever we are hearing is not nearly as despicable or illegal as what the truth is.

Unusual, but why resign over something as mild as this? Must be more there

“bear his children”?

I believe he was inquiring about being a surrogate — typically handled via equipment in a doctors office. No sex. Maybe it’s “unusual”, but I would expect that he and his wife would prefer a surrogate they know and trust as opposed to some women an attorney might dredge up.

About 30 years ago, a married couple who worked in my department learned he wasn’t able to procreate. They asked my best friend’s husband if he would be a sperm donor for their child. In the end, he declined, but was a bit flattered that they thought that much of him.

Unless sex was mentioned or suggested by Franks, I don’t see anything more than a slight “ick” factor here.

Trent Franks gets a 90 rating on Heritage Action Scorecard. His replacement should be equally conservative.

When our politicians are spending their time asking their staff to be a sperm recipient, then it is way past time for that politician to go.

This is another sad example how corrupted the government has become.

Who’s s man supposed to ask? A total stranger?

Or someone he knows and trusts?

Bow it’s uncomfortable for both when a woman turns a man down for a date. So if “ uncomfortable” is the new standard, then good luck to all

This so unusual that I doubt the original message or its intent is anywhere close to what is being reported.

I wish these guys wouldn’t fold at the first sign of intimidation.

He did nothing wrong, all the women had to say was no. He probably felt close to his staff, discussed his problems having children in the past.

This is getting downright ridiculous.

This is unusual.

What is unusual? That he asked and did not just stick his hands down their pants or that it happened in DC?
