The company announced it would close the Herald American—making Boston a one-newspaper town—on December 3, 1982. When the deadline came, Australian media baron Rupert Murdoch was negotiating to buy the paper and save it. He closed on the deal after 30 hours of talks with Hearst and newspaper unions—and five hours after Hearst had sent out notices to newsroom employees telling them they were terminated. The newspaper announced its own survival the next day with a full-page headline: “You Bet We’re Alive!”[10]

In February 1994, Murdoch’s News Corporation was forced to sell the paper, in order that its subsidiary Fox Television Stations could legally consummate its purchase of Fox affiliate WFXT (Channel 25) because Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy included language in an appropriations barring one company from owning a newspaper and television station in the same market.

How much will Bezos pour into the WAPO before it’s declared a failure too?

This was a business ploy to get out of the pension costs.... they rolled the assets into another Corp he owns.

Here is the newest announcement from an hour ago.

Boston Herald Publisher Patrick J. Purcell announced today that the media company with its flagship Boston Herald tabloid has reached an agreement with GateHouse Media, LLC for them to acquire the company’s operational assets. The purchase is subject to court approval.

The announcement came this afternoon as Purcell gathered management and staff in the Herald newspaper’s offices on Fargo Street in Boston’s Seaport District. He spoke first with his long-time management team and immediately following with staff from across all departments.

May a Conservative buy it! May Conservatives buy up all kinds of media avenues. Information is key. If truth gets out the darkness of lies is dispelled.

So what has this to do with President Trump?

Follow the bouncing ball and this article gets really interesting.

Gateshouse Media is owned by Fortress Investment Group

Fortress Investment Group was purchased this year by
SoftBank Group.

The head of SoftBank is Mr. Son. You may recall seeing video of Mr.Son and his “friend” Donald Trump in the Trump Tower lobby as they announced a 50 billion dollar commitment to investment in America and American jobs.

Gatehouse Media is 540 local media markets across 36 states.

Sheldon Adelson recently purchased the Las Vegas Review, Nevada’s largest newspaper, and signed a management contract with Gatehouse Media. Adelson put 10 million into the Trump campaign the last two weeks before the election.

I know that the words “media” and “friendly” should not be in the same sentence, but is it possible?

Some liberal media heads are already exploding. They are concerned that these outlets could be used for political purposes and damage the integrity of print media in America.

The Boston Herald is the ‘conservative’ paper in Boston. I am waiting for the failure of the Globe.

Unfortunate. The Herald was an alternative to the radically liberal globe.
