What Might Civil War Be Like?
American Thinker ^ | December 20, 2017 | E.M. Cadwaladr

The thought of Civil War has been in the minds of many people lately, on both sides of the political and cultural divide. This is not a thing to be wished for, though no one should kid themselves into believing it’s impossible either. Let us take a sober look at what such a conflict might entail.

To begin with, it would not look like the first American Civil War, which was essentially a war between two regions of the country with different economic interests. The divide created two separate countries, both initially contiguous, intact, and relatively homogeneous. The lines of demarcation now are only somewhat regional, and tend to correspond to differences between urban and rural populations, as well as differences of race and class.

>>When or if it comes, it is going to be bloody, violent, and full of death, privation, deprivation and sorrow, and nearly all (not all, since some revel in this) will wish there were some way we could have avoided it.<<

They said the same thing in 1775 and decided it was worth the risk.

Looking at the prices for the book
on Amazon, I’d have to call it ‘unavailable.’

You're making my point (sort of). The population of Washington state is split pretty evenly left and right. But the government of Washington state is decidedly hard-left. CVA says that the cities would go with the state and my example illustrates the fallacy of that thinking.

If secession fever were to spread to Washington state total chaos would result. And my state isn't alone there.

Think Rwanda.

And this is fascinating because of the huge part the media played beforehand.

Come here to northern Michigan and you will find that to be completely wrong.

I am willing to bet that other redneck large rural areas are similar.

There are people here who have never purchased meat from a grocery store. There is no one here without a few rifles.

Opening week of deer season - many towns just close down, including the schools.

Be careful to judge from where you live.

My only concern would be the large army base just down the road.

The elephant in the living room that no one wants to talk about is the likeliest method that the fighters in rural areas are going to use to quickly identify the enemy at a distance.

Well here, in the northern half of Michigan, where I have lived for 4 years, I can pick out a downstater in about five seconds at a gas station. And I don't always need their vehicle to do it.

Have always thought target discrimination and availability would be a major problem.

Not like a group of antifa's are going to make themselves available, or all the liberals with Obunghole bumper stickers are going to still be visible.

If you’re a constitutionalist living in a medium to large city GET OUT ASAP. The civil war will not last long as the leftists in their city strong holds will murder and eat each other. Any police or military loyal to the left will have its hands full protecting the former “protected” groups from each other. As the starving leftist survivors eventually start to bug out of the city they won’t be much of a force to attack well armed constitutionalists spread out over 90 +% of the remaining country.

"What is missing in most of the comments here is organization. Nobody wins a conflict without a good basic organization of fighters and supplies. A resistance needs a competent, knowledgeable and steady organization behind it. "

Here is a good book on exactly that subject. Available free on Archive.org (scroll down past their plea for $$$ to see the various formats.)
My take away from the book other than its emphasis on organization: No collaborators or enemy sympathizers can be allowed to live in your area of operations. None.

The coming Civil War will make CW 1 look like a picnic,

It will likely begin with an orchestrated attempts at assassination leaders of the patriotic movement. This will likely involve attempted hits at Alex Jones, Steve Bannon, Sheriff Clarke, Rush and of course, the Trump family themselves.

There will be a movement of people the like of which not seen in history. The major cities will likely be deserted, succumbing to internal gang war, with the patriot and Marxist forces staying well clear.

The war will almost certainly turn nuclear and likely see the population decrease to below 100m. Hopefully that Patriotic side will win and a better world can be built from the ashes of the conflict

This is really astounding. If Washington state seceded and there was an insurrection inside of Washington, the country, then that would be an internal depute inside that country and no concern of mine. Beautiful. Kill yourselves, that’s what you want to do. Every state is unique and would handle independence differntly. Viva le difference.

A few caveats -

The “other” side is going to have the cash and foreign contacts, disproportionately so. There will be global chaos but they will have most of the negotiable wealth.

They could, depending on the global fallout, import food and hire mercenaries, foreign and domestic, with the wealth and food. The most important thing in war is money.

So there is more complication here.

Sobieski defeated 300-350,000 Turks with some 70,000 men at the battle of Vienna.

I think it could be over very quickly if the strategy were to swarm Washington, DC, arrest every traitor in the government and it’s teat-sucking patrons, and fill every lamppost. The elites in Hollywood and Manhattan would think better about pushing the fight further.

Kill the head of the snake.
