House (Re)voting now!
True. The mandate is the lynchpin of Obiecare. Without it the whole ponzu scheme falls like a house of cards.
It takes out one of many onerous measures.
8,000 pages still in effect.
And the insurance subsidies will be authorized by Congress.
Probably in the CR Friday.
It’s “one step forward... “.
But the Nevertrumpers said this could never happen.
“Trump: GOP tax bill ‘essentially’ repeals ObamaCare’
~~~~~~~~~~~~
;)
Are the subsidies still in place? Are the offsets for the insurance companies still in place? Are the Obamacare taxes still in place? Then Obamacare is alive and well.
Does the bill actually repeal the individual mandate, or does it merely reduce the penalty for failing to obtain health insurance to $0?
There is a huge difference between the two.
First Trump destroys their soros marxist net neutrality
Now their Obmacare is gone!
I'm enjoying the tears of democrats especially the melenial communists crying over their net neutrality gone !
One thing my mind can't resolve. The opioid crisis has spun way out of control with expanded Medicaid and Obamacare offering easy access to doctors and prescriptions that provide pharmaceutical poisons. Is there a connection? Maybe less people will become addicted if they know they're accountable for their decisions.
Trump claims (falsely) that the tax bill repeals Obamacare. /s
Just remember that the Obamacare tax is still in effect for all of next year.
No. It repeals one of the more annoying and least liked parts of the measure. Now people can truly go without insurance until they get sick, and then purchase insurance to “pay” for their illness, since they did not change the requirement that all pre-conditions must be covered.
But I would not be surprised if President Trump actually believes this “repeals Obamacare”. He never seemed that upset about any of the ACA except that it forced people to buy insurance.
Next, he’s going to get Long Fence to put up a mile of chain-link and say he “sealed the borders” :)
To me the weird part of this is that the IRS already said, very clearly, at the start of 2017 that they had no intention of enforcing the Obamacare fines, and indeed had no reliable method for doing so other than withholding refunds, and since not all taxpayers GET refunds, that would be inequitable.
SO basically as of that moment, the individual mandate no longer existed. I don’t really see in practical terms what else needed to be changed. It’s like those arcane laws they find on the books, “you can’t walk your goat on Wednesday in Tuscaloosa.” If it’s not being enforced, is it really even a law?
Apparently the author of this article in The Hill, Jordan Fabian, either lacks reading comprehension or else is a lying partisan idiot. (OK, I'll admit that both could be true.)
Does Jordan Fabian not understand that "We have essentially repealed ObamaCare" does not mean the same thing as "We have entirely repealed ObamaCare"?
Or else he, like many other so-called 'journalists', decided to intentionally lie about what President Trump actually said, preferring instead to falsely put words into the President's mouth.
I kind of wish he wouldn’t say it this way.
It repeals the mandate, but does not repeal the odious and onerous coverage requirements that cause the extremely high prices.
As a 50+ year old man, why would I need coverage for obstetrics for myself?
My question is if this also repeals all of the provisions mandated by ObamaCare or just reduces the penalty to $0?
Will I now be able to buy a high deductible, catastrophic plan now, with reasonable premiums, or will I still be forced to purchase a “comprehensive” policy that covers dozens of things which I will never use that costs thousands of dollars a year?
As far as im concerned...if im not forced by the IRS to buy it...then im happy!
