The Democratic Governors Association, in an attempt to attack Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner (R) tweeted this week about how 33,000 people left Illinois for another state over the past year, continuing years of outmigration from the Land of Lincoln.
What they won’t be touting is the fact that during the administration of Gov. Pat Quinn (D), Rauner’s predecessor, 247,410 people on net left Illinois for the likes of North Carolina, Texas, Florida, Arizona, and other states that are better stewards of taxpayers dollars. Those 247,410 people, according to IRS migration data, took $13.7 billion with them to states that that are better run and have lower taxes.
The DGA really doesn’t want to dive into interstate migration data, as it does not reflect well on their most prominent governors. Let’s start by looking at what has happened in California since Jerry Brown became governor again in January of 2011.
Since Gov. Brown was sworn in, becoming the oldest governor in state history, 243,099 people have fled California on net for other states, taking $7.794 billion with them to states that don’t have such high taxes and onerous regulations that make housing unaffordable for middle class households.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), a 2020 presidential contender, is another prominent Democrat who is chasing families and employers out his state with crushing taxes and onerous regulations.
Since Gov. Cuomo was sworn in, 577,286 people on net have fled New York for other states, taking more than $27 billion with them.
And then there is the Chairman of the DGA, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy. Since Malloy took office in 2011, 73,676 people on net have left his state. That's a lot of former Nutmeggers and they took $8.543 billion with them to states with more hospitable tax climates.

The full article listed Illinois, California, New York, and Connecticut as 4 Democrat states who are losing residents to other states.
In most cases the people leaving Illinois, California, New York, and Connecticut are people who have wealth.
Since Illinois, California, New York, and Connecticut have very liberal welfare programs, they are attracting the never-do-wells to replace the wealthy people who are leaving.
Certainly this is not a sign of future success for Illinois, California, New York, and Connecticut.
In 1994, I was campaigning for Tom Scott since he was the only one who said he would get rid of the income tax. I wonder if Connecticut would be booming if Tom got elected.

I am a little south of Greenville SC and in my neighborhood in the past year we have two new families from Kansas (mostly conservative), one from CA (dont know yet), one from Michigan (libs), one Atlanta (dont know yet), one Canada (libs), and two from local (both conservatives). That is what is happening in SC.
In the last 60 years, NY has lost almost half its House seats, seats in the chamber with the power of the purse. Upstate is becoming a ghost town. Foreclosures for back taxes are up.

How many are illegals?
In addition to a lot of crooked politicians and illegal aliens, CA has a lot of smart people and high tech businesses. And in some areas the climate is terrific.
And people wonder why Texas is slowly turning blue. Entirely too many refugees from Cali and Yankee land. And then there are all the illegals voting D too. Right now if a so and so R was up against a popular D I would not be surprised if the D won. Used to be Houston and Harris county voted R now all the big cities in Texas are reliable D votes.
See what happened to NH once the Ma$$holes started to invade.
Saw the same thing in NC (Mooresville) starting in the mid eighties.
The exodus from CA to NV has almost flipped that state.
CO and NM have flipped...though that may be more to immigration.
The exodus from DC to VA has flipped that state.
NC is a swing state.
FL is a swing state.
GA could be a swing state. The metro ATL area is growing leaps and bounds.
One wonders how they could enforce that. Check your mileage at the annual safety inspection? I would disconnect the speedometer. What about for miles driven out of state? That leaves them with transponders like EZ Pass or similar practically everywhere and the readers, or cameras everywhere to photograph your plate number.
