GAME OVER: NFL CANCELS ‘Sunday Night Football’ on New Year's Eve

The embattled National Football League announced its decision to cancel this week’s edition of ‘Sunday Night Football’ on Tuesday; hoping to avoid a ratings bloodbath as a less-than-stellar line-up and New Year’s Eve festivities would have caused the NFL to reach embarrassing new lows.

The league opted to call-off the game before announcing which teams were scheduled to compete, adding the match-up wouldn’t have playoff implications and would likely cost the already troubled organization millions of dollars.

“We felt that both from a competitive standpoint and from a fan perspective, the most fair thing to do is to schedule all Week 17 games in either the 1 p.m. or 4:25 p.m. windows,” said a spokesperson for the NFL.

The National Football League is struggling to wrap up its disastrous 2017 season, with millions of fans tuning out or staying home following months of player protests.

Industry insiders predict the demonstrations have cost the NFL over $500 million.

President Trump thrust the issue into the national spotlight earlier this year, calling for a national boycott of the NFL until officials and owners clamp-down on their athletes “taking a knee” during the performance of the ‘Star-Spangled Banner.’

You a Dallas fan? I was back in Roger Staubach era. He was a Cincy & Navy product. A classy guy. They’ve lost that. Now they’re a bunch of bums destroying anything offered by the upstanding among them.

“Down here, it’s more about the party than anything else. IMHO”

So as long as its a good party, the players can kneel during the National Anthem and the fans don’t give a damn and sill still go to the game?

Hey, I've got an idea. Why not give the guy in charge of the league a new contract for a job well done. How about $40 million a year + bennies?

(wish I had the skills to post the two guys from the Guinness add) BRILLIANT!

I think either of us could do a better job, and I’d only charge them 2 or 3 million.

The president spelled out the problem, and they still haven’t corrected it.

Many Americans now realize they can live without NFL football on Sundays.

Bread and Circuses.

The breweries and distilleries were running full speed when 10 million people in the Breadbasket of Ukraine were starved circa 1933.

I used to do fantasy football, watch my local team, check out a game or two, and follow it faithfully.

Now after boycotting last year and this year, I simply don’t care.

I’ve also learned all their other faults that I was refusing to admit: brain injuries, steroid giantism, thuggery, family abuse, ownership cheating the tax base, etc.

I see football winding down over time.

The stupidest rich men in sports.

They “reward” an incompetent liberal in Baddell and “reward” the same racist BLM animals with more social justice money so they can keep sticking it to whitey.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

My impression in the short 45 years I've lived down here is that the cultural attitude is more of a "let bygones be bygones", "you got your opinion, I got mine, but we'll tolerate each other". You'd have to experience it to understand it.

Farewell NFL. Don’t watch TV at all so it really doesn’t make a difference to me. Except that I’ve been generally pissed at the player’s behavior both on and off the field. Bunch of thugs.
