Hillary's Campaign Manager: Yeah, This Whole Russia Narrative is Not a Winning Strategy
Townhall.com ^ | January 8, 2018 | Katie Pavlich

It's officially 2018, which means the midterm elections are right around the corner. When a successful Republican tax reform package kicks in next month, Democrats will have to reach even deeper to find a winning argument for November.

In 2017, Russia was used as a political hammer by Democrats against President Trump and Republicans closely associated with him. As the Special Counsel investigation drags on, with multiple investigations on Capitol Hill failing to turn up evidence of collusion, it's still being used as a talking point against the White House.

But according to former Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook, using the Russia narrative to win elections and take back red seats just isn't going to cut it.

"I don't think the Russia investigation is a winning message. You know, voters watch and they look to see what your priorities seem to be," Mook said during a recent interview on CNN. "This is actually why the Republicans are looking to have a fight over immigration because they want to send a signal to voters that Democrats are not focused on the voters but on immigration and that sort of thing. Obviously it's an important issue but the Republicans see that as a helpful wedge for their base. I think Democrats need to run on what everybody always needs to run on which is, what are you doing for the voters? What's in it for them?"

Will Democrats drop Russia in 2018? Highly unlikely, but there is a chance their push for impeachment takes precedent.

Polling on the issue continues to show Americans split.

Thanks Kaslin. Depends -- how does it help them in the 2018 electin? If it destroys them -- and there's good reason to believe that it will -- they'll try to adjust and revert. I'll venture to guess that they'll restart into the last successful start point, IOW, in 2020 nominate Oprah and run on two virtue-signalling affirmative action sideshows at the same time.

I think the word "Experts"should always have quotation marks at the beginning and the end of it.

OH,yes, Carville was and remains a nut, a caricature, but would definitely have chewed up mookity Mook for breakfast and spat him out, at some local campus math department.

Carville may have invented street sweat and gum shoe tactics for kamikaze targeting through neighborhoods to roust up, round up, and deliver the dang votes. That he did.

The old gasbag would have never let Hillary the harridan use Mook for anything more than a place to set her vodka.

“”””””Yeh, I’m still trying to figure out how the Russians forcibly took my hand in the ballot box to not vote for Hillary Clinton”””””””””””

You got off easy. They came to my house and threw me in the back of a YUGO and drove me there and forced me to vote for Trump.

Robby Mook may be the worst campaign manager in history.

Yes he was horrible but the campaign’s biggest issue was the candidate thought she was rehearsing to star in the remake of “Weekend at Bernie’s”.

Agreed...no one at CNN asked Mook for the names of any of these “experts.” They must have thought it sounded better than the more common “some say”.

That was before we found out that Hillary and her cronies invented the whole story

Obama had the FBI compile a dossier on Hillary during the DNC Candidate runoff between Obama and Hillary. After he won, he had no need to use it.

When Hillary ran against Trump, Obama had them dust off the dossier and have it sent overseas to be rewritten, aiming it at Trump. When Trump won, the FBI showed it to Trump and told him he better be a good boy and leave the 'establishment' alone, or they would use it against him.

WE were told that all they did was show it to him with the advice that he needed to be prepared for crap like this, and therefore he needed to allow the FBI to run unfettered and above the law.

Regardless to which story you believe, he told them NO.

The result you see in front of you today.

I don't know if that's 100% true, but what is absolutely true is that he had the worst CANDIDATE IN HISTORY to manage.

But it’s Hillary’s strategy and we have to do what the Queen says no matter how stupid it is!

I listened briefly to NPR while driving my truck into to town today. Some guy, didn’t catch his name, was listing all the reasons President Trump needs to be removed from office. I was laughing hard.

“Russia, Russia” has had no effect. Time for the next go-round, “President Trump is crazy.” Yeah, that’ll work :)

"I don't think the Russia investigation is a winning message," Mook said

Especially since the majority of the electorate sees it for the witch hunt that it is.

The Democrats have no message that would appeal to any sane American. It's basically promotion of sexual freakery, abortion-on-demand, open borders, and welfare entitlement. And climate fear-mongering.

Yeh, I’m still trying to figure out how the Russians forcibly took my hand in the ballot box to not vote for Hillary Clinton

The Russians did it through mind control on social media on the web...

There is a sizable part of the quiet population that likes jack booted government, some are the nicest people too, but they think it patriotic

It is scary how the government feels free to scam around because of such people who never see wrong in it
