After living in the U.S. for more than 30 years, Jean Montrevil, Haitian immigrant rights activist and co-founder of the New Sanctuary Coalition of New York City, was deported back to his country less than two weeks after he was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, agents.
Montrevil confirmed he has a pending legal appeal in U.S. courts. For this reason he did not expect his rapid deportation to Haiti. Speaking of his arrest he said it was "two days of hell [...] two days straight with no food and no explanation."
Montrevil was convicted in the nineties of possession of cocaine, but was allowed to remain in the country after serving 11 years in prison.
Another New Sanctuary Coalition co-founder, Ravi Ragbir, was arrested a week after Montrevil's arrest. Ragbir remains under detention, pending deportation in spite of multiple calls for his release by immigrant-rights groups, clergy and elected officials.

Yeah! Its about time.
I bet we won’t see a lot of illegal activist popping their heads out
anymore.
Was he here illegally? If not, he should have been sent home long ago.
Winning!
He can thank Clinton Inc for the horrid state of his country, since they stole 6 billion dollars in relief money from Haiti.
Winning! There’s a new Sheriff in town and Trump’s appointment of Homan was a stroke of brilliance.
At least the wheels of justice are spinning, albeit slowly.
I’d shut down FR with the size of the smiley face graphic I want to post.
I can just see this guy getting off the plane and walking out of the airport, stopping and staring at the sh1thole.
Excellent - get the community agitating ingrates out first!
What the article fails to mention is that Montrevil was supposed to report to ICE for a check-in back on July 20th of 2017 when his green card expired. He was arrested because he never showed up, which is why he is now illegal and was deported.
He gave ICE the finger and they responded in kind.
We really need to stop bringing people here when they have natural disasters......they always get here and protest when asked to go back...always!
Yes. If you are a citizen and you do your time for possession then Society should judge you from what you do from that point on. But if you are an illegal alien and you commit a crime here? Why are you even here?
Apparently, it takes 30 years to boot an illegal.
Winning!
but was allowed to remain in the country after serving 11 years in prison.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why?
No food? Something sounds off about that.
However, note the sign:
Besides, Haiti is a wonderful place, not a sh*thole, just ask the Clintons!
