On SNL, it dawns on the left that its tantrum over Trump is falling flat

I don't watch television, but as part of a video classroom assignment on how show segments are strung together, I ended up watching Saturday Night Live. I watch it anyway on YouTube for the glimpse it gives on how the left "thinks."

I watched the opening segment last night, which was a mirthless five-minute take attempting to convince us President Trump was dumb. Later on in the program, at the half-hour mark, the second political skit, led by actress and guest host Jessica Chastain was more interesting.

Using the format of a cheesy game show with a panel of three contestants, Chastain asked her contenders in the five-minute segment whether this or that action of President Trump's "matters anymore."

What Even Matters Anymore - SNL

I’m old enough to remember when SNL was actually funny.

You can watch old episodes (from the 70s) on Hulu. Entertainment-wise, it's a mixed bag. Political-wise, it's anti-Republican and pro-Democrat from the get-go. It looks like SNL was funded by the DNC to use entertainment to sell left-wing/globalist/anti-Republican propaganda.

Cue the “I don’t watch Tv”, “SNL has been dead since ‘75” and all of the other indications that the greatest generation is alive and well on FR.

The only ones who watch SNL anymore are far left loons who laugh at jokes about Conservatives..for 8 years of Obama’s Presidency they NEVER mocked him, not ONCE..because they knew if they did they would be called racist besides, they agreed with his agenda

Okay, from someone who actually watches the show:

1. Baldwin’s Trump skits barely register anymore.
2. There have been some exceptionally funny skits this season.
3. The video shorts they do are usually very funny.
4. The musical guests have been horrible.
6. The two guys doing the news segments are biased, but at least they are hip, well written, and sharp.
7. You all realize this show originates from NYC. It’s not from “middle America.” It never has been. You cannot watch this without understanding they would look at 90% of us as coming from an alien world. That hasn’t changed since the first show.

SNL suffers from the same malady as most other forms of entertainment: They have ceased trying to entertain. Now all they do is shock, titillate, and preach.

I like Jessica Chastain, but the show was one of the worst in the oats 5 years and that’s saying something.

The opening and the news are time slotted as ‘ridicule” trump content. The opening has been so redundant and consistently anti-trump it is unwatchable to me and I don’t mind my side being the subject of jokes.

The standard joke structure when you want to ridicule a politician is set up a false premise and then deliver a set-up and punch line based upon the premise.

Last night the other skits were mostly unwatchable. I tape and fast forward.

The musical guest last night must have been androgynous and unlistenable.

Overall totally unwatchable.

Yes it always leaned left but they didn’t use a sledgehammer to deliver the message back then. Remember Dan Ackroyd as Jimmy Carter and the “lusty, zesty man” skit? There is simply no pretense of balance anymore, and no recognition of the fact that thoroughly the years the best skits were never political. The Coneheads, Land Shark, The Czechoslovakian Brothers, the Loud Family, Emily Latella, The Church Lady, Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood, Mary Katherine Gallagher, The Roxbury Guys, Celebrity Jeopardy, etc were always the best part of the show.

Mr. Bill was a favorite of mine——in those days EVERYONE was a target——funniest show ever.

Like I’ve often said, 1970s episodes of “The Electric Company” are more entertaining to watch than SNL these days.

I miss that show.

Not funny but very (inadvertently) insightful. On the face of it this skit lambastes President Trump and his supporters. Haha. But to anyone with an IQ above 80 it clearly illustrates the severe mental trauma of collision with reality that is driving the left collectively nutz.

At this rate to 2020 elections will be a shoe-in because there won’t be any leftists left who are not straitjacketed.

The LameStreamers don't matter anymore.

How nice of SNL to finally seem to be aware of that fact.

Tabloid media crap is what I like to call it. Celebrity gossip gone crazy - Melania's shoes! Barron's T-shirts! Trump's weight! Ice cream scoop scandal! I see some sympathetic posts on social media cheering it on, almost exclusively from pathetic bitter spinster types who try to make themselves feel better by tearing someone else's life down.

Super BASSOMATIC ‘76
Mainway Inc.’s Bag O’Glass
Motivational Speaker Matt Foley
Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood
Samurai Delicatessen
All Bee Band - King Bee
James Brown’s Celebrity Hot Tub Party
More Cowbell

Globalists completed the politicization of all late night entertainment. They gave Jimmy Kimmel an offer he couldn’t refuse after the popular Trump “Winners Like Me” segment.

It’s all unwatchable.
