House Speaker Paul Ryan called Tuesday to “cleanse” the FBI as he openly backed the release of a controversial memo that purportedly details alleged surveillance abuses by the U.S. government.
“Let it all out, get it all out there. Cleanse the organization,” Ryan, R-Wis., said.
He added, “I think we should disclose all this stuff. It’s the best disinfectant. Accountability, transparency -- for the sake of the reputation of our institutions.”
The striking remarks came at a breakfast with anchors and reporters ahead of President Trump’s State of the Union address; much of the session was off the record.

I recall when democrats led by Senator Church were saying these things about the FBI and CIA back in the 1970s. Now they are the ones protesting it. Funny how things change. Or not.
That’s a very good way of putting it. On a side note, despite what he says publicly, I think Paul Ryan either will not seek reelection, or this will be his last hurrah. Ryan is young, articulate, and tested. I suspect he has a very lucrative standing offer in front of him just waiting for the right moment.

Ryan took several polls, held focus-group meetings, and vetted the language to be used with consultants - and decided it was the right thing to do.

They were right then, and the DOJ/FBI/CIA were even more dangerous than the 1970’s, before Admiral Rogers exposed them to President Elect Trump and America.
Knowing Ryan’s timidity to take a stand, the memo must be really really bad.
Ryan must be terrified lol.

Ryan reads the tea leaves well...accurately. Whatever his other characteristics, he definitely knows which way the wind blows. I suppose that’s important as a politician. Shows how completely vacant...senile...Pelosi has become.
