If I were Trump, just to cheese the Demondogs off, I’d not fire him, I’d create a new position and reassign him. No pay cut, no black mark on his record but he’d be the station chief for the FBI office in Mentone Texas or Point Barrow Alaska. Then I’d reassign Maddog Mattis to Rosenstien’s current post

These people will never resign. There are some legal protections for politicians and political appointees while ‘performing their official duties’ to prevent frivolous or abusive lawsuits. Any real or perceived immunities will be exercised until the last possible moment.
As long as the captains are afraid to use their legal authorities the bad actors will continue to act bad. Crooks are not sorry for stealing, they are sorry they hot caught. Until fired, cuffed, and stuffed, they are not caught.
