The fact that the application’s authors took the trouble to note that, parked it in a footnote and did not give any indication that the dossier was paid for by the DNC / Hillary is actually worse for the FBI / DOJ because it means they thought about the issue and did a CYA exercise in saying as little as they could get away with without either attracting scrutiny by the judge or opening themselves up to accusations of concealing the fact.
