Finally a sane post on this clueless thread.
Much like working at McDonald's or Walmart, being a 'comfort woman' was the first job for millions of young Koreans.
“Even South Africa is still miles ahead of the rest of the continent”
It is the rape capitol of the world.
They were at war for almost 15 years by the time WWII ended. My guess is their “superiority” complex was pretty much living on its own by then.
The Japanese were brutal overlords. There really isn’t a way around that. My guess is that it wouldn’t take more than a scratch or two to expose that and bring it to life again.
Here’s a novel idea - why don’t the talking hairdos on NBC just talk about sports?
Still better than the rest of the continent. Capetown and Johannesburg, still look mostly European and still have plenty of whites and economic opportunities, that the rest of the continent can only dream about.
Whenever the left acts like this, you know that they’re trying to punish anyone who speaks the truth.
ALL of these NBC fools should just STFU about race, politics and all the other PC bullshit and just comment on the athletics ...
You are very wrong.
They have a viseral hatred of the Japanese after what Japan did in Korea during WWII.
So do the Chinese.
Start your education with the Rape of Nanking.
Exactly. In Kenya, the entire consumer banking system is cell phone based and is incredibly efficient.
In Nairobi, I got my shoes shined and paid for taxi rides by aiming my phone at a bar code type graphic they provided, added a tip and hit send.
The payment was in their phone within 4 seconds. Also, out on the Masai Mara, 4 or 5 bar signal strength virtually everywhere!!!
There is only one country to be credited for South Korea’s remarkable recovery and development into am economic powerhouse in Southeast Asia, and that is the USA.
The USA rescued their nation at a horrendous cost of lives, and provided the money and expertise to build a nation that had been completely devastated by the North Koreans and Chinese.
We did the same thing for Europe and Japan following WWII. And all we asked of those countries was a place to bury our dead.
And eyt the American left says the USA exploits these countries.
The rate of sexual violence in South Africa is among the highest in the world. During 2015-16, there were 51,895 crimes of a sexual nature reported to the South African Police Service.

Lets just point out that their restaurants serve dog meat. Now I find that offensive and disgusting. Life is too short to worry about who is offended.
Japan had a “Quit Asia” policy over a century ago, where they actively abandoned their old mainland friends and wanted to be seen as “European” to avoid being colonial bait.
They didn’t even have a word for “colony”, and saw the idea of taking Korea over as just weird at first.
It was a total shock to the Koreans, though, whom saw the Japanese in western ships and clothes as complete sell-outs, which offended the Japanese very deeply. Before westernization the two were actually really pretty close.
I guess the animosity is still fresh and active.
History is always offensive to the losers.

Interesting article from all the way back in 1979....
Japan’s Economic Influence Is Everywhere in South Korea
Thinking about this, a few things come to mind:
If you spend 5 minutes talking to ANY Korean about what life was like under Japanese occupation, you’ll immediately hear about ‘comfort women’ and the horrific crimes against humanity that the Japanese committed during WW2.
So where did this clown get this viewpoint from? The only people who could possibly say that to him are the Japanese, who are told a whitewashed story regarding WW2, and have not even apologized for what they did.
(although I still have mixed feelings about the Japanese approach, as they still have a cohesive society, while the other country, Germany, whose people know full well what Germany did...but now are so guilt-ridden that they’re in process of committing cultural suicide)
His mistake was mentioning the occupation and then the economic transformation in a manner that some could interpret as being related to each other, although I don’t believe that was his intention.
But then again, most viewers are particularly knowledgeable enough to know better.
