After Florida, is the tide finally turning on gun control?

Wednesday’s mass shooting in Parkland, Fla., is the latest tragedy to befall a nation accustomed to headlines of gun deaths and the partisan political response that follows them. The gradual decrescendo that accompanies such horrific incidents — from outrage and thoughts and prayers to cooling off periods and eventual inaction — has long been familiar to Americans. Yet the killings in Parkland have come close on the heels of other acts of semi-automatic slaughter. Three of the nation’s 10 most deadly mass shootings have happened in the last six months, taking the lives of more than 100 people.

It is all about the psychotropic drugs that have been given to so many mentally unbalanced teens. It is not about guns.

Want to stop school shootings? Stop putting most boys on drugs (ADHD for example) and then later, for some percentage, stepping up their drugs to even more powerful psychotropics.

“In September 2011, Islamic terrorists murdered 2,977”

I don’t remember that.

How many school shootings occurred before Carter shutdown the mental institutions?

WHY they were closed was to produce these events which give Dems the opportunity to attack the 2nd amendment.

Think Jason Borne.

The Jews had no firearms to defend themselves against the NAZI’s.

If we lose our guns, how can we thwart the left wing tyrants?

We are currently seeing the tyranny revealed disguised as Russian election meddling.

The retribution for the crimes against the republic might need to be war

The tyrant Nancy Pelosi is an American enemy

Guns ccw’d on campus has worked pretty well in Texas. Allow teachers to carry on campus as well as other ccws.

The school then becomes a hard target rather than a soft target.

Even one of those big canisters of pepper spray in every teachers desk would be super helpful.

To anyone and everyone advocating for more "gun control." Tell me, just why do you expect another law, even another dozen laws to stop these kinds of killing sprees? Seriously, these evil and insane people are typically already breaking a couple dozen laws, usually on multiple counts. So just how do you connect the dots? Please explain your reasoning that leads you to believe someone willing to break so many other laws will somehow magically be stopped if we only had just this one more law?

You cannot. There is no reasonable, rational argument to be made for more gun control. None. Ever notice the increased calls for "gun control" really only occur after one of these events? There's an excellent reason for that. The people advocating for "gun control" know that under the cold light of reason, their proposals make absolutely no {expletive} sense. More laws only affect the law abiding. Let's repeat that so it soaks in - laws only affect the law abiding. People willing to commit multiple felonies, even sacrifice their own life in the effort, will not be deterred by a few additional laws.

The people advocating for "gun control" have an agenda. That agenda includes disarming law abiding citizens - you, me, the hunter down the street, everyone but their chosen security forces. They know they can't get to this power utopia in one leap, so they chip away at our rights, our liberties, and our ability to defend ourselves. If we are disarmed, a few petty criminals running around stealing stuff will be the least of our worries. The organized criminals in power, stealing our liberties will be the real battle. The opening skirmishes of this fight are taking place now. They are trying to gain an advantage. Every time a community is touched by madness and tragedy, they look for an opening, play upon our emotions and sympathy to try to advance their agenda. They are disgusting and vile.

Since police provide no guarantee of assistance to protect you, why would you give up the one thing (a gun) that can protect you in your own home?

“How about psychiatric drug control?”

This.

Nearly all mass murders that don’t involve “Aloha Snackbar” do involve psychoactive medication. I’ve been up close with someone who was on antidepressants: nicely stable when on, but missed doses resulted in a week-long he11-on-earth leap from not depressed, thru full-on depressed, past “flight”, and landing squarely in “fight”.

Take someone who’s already unbalanced (shooter killed animals for fun), suffering from a traumatic event (mother died), likely on antidepressants, and (being not known for personal responsibility) likely missed some doses - prompting his murderous rampage.

I’ve seen this pattern many times. Depressed bad seed, on antidepressants, likely missed a few, murders many. There’s a nexus in there.

One of the best memes I saw on twitter yesterday was one that said something like....The UK banned guns and now their citizens can be arrested for a Facebook post.

I view articles like this much the same as push polls. It’s false information for the specific purpose of trying to jump-start opinion that is not there. It is an attempt to create an illusion of “everyone is doing this”, or “everyone is beginning to think this therefore, should you too”?

"The Florida school shooter was flagged to the FBI, the Texas church shooter wasn’t flagged by the US Air Force, and we still don’t know what’s behind the Las Vegas shooter.

So at least 2/3 were known mental health threats. Yet they all purchased weapons legally."

CNN Headline: "Las Vegas shooter had anti-anxiety medicine in system, autopsy says"

That makes it 3 for 3

Public Madness

Reviewing preordained massacres takes me back to my experience with the violent mentally ill. My brother worked in Vermont’s Waterbury Mental Hospital in the 70s and 80s. He worked to keep some sense of order among the wing housing the criminally insane. At 5’ 5” and 145 pounds, he seemed a strange pick to work with violent, 200-pound psychopaths and he had fractures and lacerations too numerous to count. But he was more successful in reaching these deranged inmates than most other staffers so he was kept at it. Then, in the late-70s and mid-80s, the Libtard Patients’ Rights Movement burst upon psychiatry and he watched in dismay as many clearly dangerous offenders were released with the admonition to “take their medicine.” He predicted a catastrophe.

In the 80s and 90s it seemed that everyone had a horror story about the deinstitutionalized insane. In the 1990s I became intimately acquainted with the insane on a daily basis. Every day I took the commuter train to and from Boston’s South Station. South Station had become home to a colorful population of the insane, some calm, others violent. It was clear that Boston – home of arguably the most delusional Marxists in the United States – was spending most of its time hiding its problems and others than actually fixing them. Haunting South Station were the fruits of “mental patients’ rights.”

There was the Paper Clip Lady. A shambling wreck of a woman – perhaps 40, perhaps 70 – she stumbled through the crowds in a filthy trench coat despite the weather. Her long, foul hair hung in slimy glory about her white, puffy face as she had a never-ending argument with someone no one else could see. Her eyes glazed and ablaze at the same time, she held a straightened paper clip in her right hand, jabbing forcefully with it toward her imaginary opponent as she ranted and hectored in meaningless sentence fragments. In between harangues, she would stab herself under her fingernails with the paper clip, creating new freshettes of blood running down her hand and arm to join the gory dam of half-dried blood turning her sleeve into something like furry raw liver. Commuters kept a wary eye on The Paperclip Lady and if she was near one of the station’s benches, the seat behind her was always kept open in case she decided to suddenly sit down while scolding her imaginary enemy.

There was Agent Mulder, a middle-aged man always wearing a sweater vest and clutching a paperback book. Not obviously insane on first glance, he would take the opportunity to sit down across from you if there was an empty chair at the table you were using while waiting for your train. Once you glanced up in surprise he would stare at you levelly as he showed you a book about alien abductions and began earnestly telling you about the danger everyone was in from space invaders, all in a calm if intense tone, and advising you to be on the lookout.

There was The Ambassador, who wore a filthy overcoat and huge galoshes as he prowled the ramps along the train tracks. As you disembarked, he would suddenly be at your side, eyes wild, finger pointing, his unwashed face a writhing thing of madness, as he followed you into the station while loudly telling you something in no language ever spoken in Boston. Once he had reached the station, without pause, he would turn on his heel, attach himself to someone walking out to their train, and continue the exhortation.

I left my job in Boston after a while and never again had to encounter these beneficiaries of liberal benevolence, though I have often wondered how many of those who emptied the asylums ever had to take the train to and from South Station (let me guess – ah, none?) That Nikolas Cruz slaughtered 17 people isn’t the news. The real story is how the Left deliberately went out of its way to help create this massacre by freeing the crazy and disarming the sane in order that they might feel good about themselves, far from either Florida or Boston's South Station.

To prevent the Tyranny of Hillary et al we now see as firmly established and real, we must have gun laws that permit the elimination of the leftist tyrants
