Business leaders from nearly every American industry are furious with President Trump right now.
They’ve been pressuring his administration to back off from its plan to add steep tariffs on importedsteel and aluminum, which are used to make everything from cars to boats and even soup cans.
But the president has waved off their concerns. On Thursday afternoon, Trump is expected to sign an order directing the Commerce Department to add the 25 percent levy on steel and the 10 percent levy on aluminum. He did say, however, that his administration will exempt Canada and Mexico from the tariffs for a while.
The US steel industry is quite happy about the tariffs.
Almost everyone else is upset.

It would be entertaining if the LSM were really interested in investigations.
They could lay out all of the worldwide tariffs and other restrictions on Steel Trading.
Actually the opposite is true...every American exporting industry will likely see a boost as a result of Trump's willingness to take this action.
Countries that want to export to the US on favorable terms will now have to demonstrate comparable purchases of US products.
That's the power that comes from controlling the largest consumer market in the world.
No country will take advantage of the United States anymore.
Those industries suck. We need steel.
If I were a US “industry” that had sold out America to re-tooling and manufacturing overseas, I’d be pissed too.
The amount steel tariffs would raise the price of a new car? $30-$40.
The cries of Doom and Gloom also echoed when Trump won the election, how reminiscent.........

Minor correction, but the 777 is not the Dreamliner. The 787 is the Dreamliner. Would be sort of an insignificant distinction except that the fuselage and wings of the 787 are made out of carbon fiber and other composites, whereas the more traditional 777 fuselage and wings are aluminum.

Well, that and it increasing the cost of steel, which will increase the cost of their products and reduce their sales - regardless of who they buy the steel from.
That said, if tariffs are used tactically, and the diplomacy is good, brief tariffs can help in the long run. In the short term - or however long the tariffs last - it’s like giving a tax break to one guy and raising the cost to everyone else.
Not sure - but we only export 2% of all the steel exported - 1/12th as much as China...our steel industry was literally decimated by some set of events and one must imagine that imbalanced trade deals had a lot to do with it.

And what about our export market? Aren't countries going to say if you want to export to us you have to demonstrate being open to our exports as well?
Every other country in the world that makes steel has an import tariff. Every one of them.
Of course they do, how is it you could think otherwise? Were you born yesterday?
