'AMW' host John Walsh: We need a mental illness registry for would-be gun owners
TMZ ^ | March 11, 2018 | Staff

Posted on 03/11/2018 5:31:08 PM PDT by Trump20162020

The host of America's Most Wanted, who also helped create a national registry for sex offenders, says the same system is needed for mentally ill people looking to buy guns.

We got John Walsh Saturday at LAX and asked what he made of Florida's new gun law -- in which the age limit to purchase guns was raised to 21 ... and teachers can now be armed.

He says it's a step in the right direction, but also thinks arming teachers is the wrong way to protect schools from potential shooters -- he wants trained pros on the ground instead.

Here's the most interesting tidbit ... John apparently believes a national registry logging people with serious mental illness needs to be implemented for would-be gun owners.

Declare everyone insane until proven sane by a panel of doctors who themselves may be insane, for who has the authority to declare them sane. And who declared Those in that authority sane.

Kind of like “Guilty until proven innocent.”

You bring up a damn good point about HIPAA

Leftists have turned everything into a pretzel, logically speaking. Here in Iowa a few years back a much beloved High School football coach was shot and killed by a well known nutcase. He had been arrested a few times as I recall for bizarre behavior but because of “privacy” laws and similar ... And ... the fact that he hadn’t “done anything yet.”

Mainstreaming or inclusion laws with respect to handicapped or differentially abled students - to include mental illness - are interpreted differently depending on who ya ask - but generally they cite “least restrictive environment.”

Now who is nuts and who ain’t might be arguable to some degree - but unfortunately what it means in practice, is complete nutjobs are allowed in society, to vote, have children, run for public office (hm...) until they break something. En masse. I’m sure it’s in the Communist Manifesto somewhere.

“Oh yeah, he’s nuts...” “I don’t think he took his medication” “She has issues...” etc etc. Seriously though HIPAA is part of the issue. It means nobody can find out anything, it’s used as a shield to prevent the public from finding out. Age is also cited, crimes by juveniles. Frankly I want to know who these kids are, and you should too. Now we come to find out Obie administration started a federal program where the government pays the cops NOT to arrest criminals. Sort of like paying farmers NOT to grow corn or beans, I guess. That Sheriff down there in Florida says “It’s a good program.”

Yeah I’ll bet.

It goes back farther than that. Probably every county in America has platted out land specifically set aside for just this kind of thing, whether a county farm or whatever. Remember a huge over-arching Federal government is still relatively recent. Things were simply handled locally. Crime and punishment, and they also knew who was nuts or incapable of taking care of themselves. Are county farms going to make a return? Well I suppose not, but the point is they USED to handle this stuff without too much drama, or at least periodic school slaughters anyway.

For some reason a lot of folks think that we as a society are duty bound by the law to never defend anyone or anything. It is really bizarre. It’s been so long that things have been fvc$ed up, they think it’s a requirement, it will never get better, and just go with the flow. Learned helplessness, infantalized, dumbed down, etc. The only thing that will “go with the flow” are dead fish.

The students know who the crazy children are. The teachers do, too. They are not medical professionals. Teachers should not be responsible for teaching crazy, disruptive children.

Most sane individuals can go into a classroom and pick out the crazy children within ten minutes. Then you might have to categorize them as crazy crazy, off meds crazy, would probably be normal if not on meds, etc. It is wrong to subject normal children to the volatile moods of children who are not right in the head. That might upset some teachers who believe they can reach that one child who just needs the right loving. But get those crazy children the help they need which is not to be mainstreamed. And don’t expect shy Suzie Q to perform to her potential when she is afraid of John Q Crazy suddenly throwing tables and chairs across the room.

How about simple background checks for security clearance of members of congress?

I can’t honestly think of that many off the top of my head that would really qualify. Some would, but there are a lot of some pretty well known figures - not a chance. No way.

And there’s a reason for that.

Does the 4473 ask about prescription drugs like Xanax or Zoloft and Tranquil and all the “mood enhancers”? It asks if the prospective purchaser smokes dope. That is a common way for the law to go after gang bangers.

Personally, I rarely drink, it doesn’t interest me. But part of it is because if I even drove by a liquor store 3 days ago and I get pulled over there’s gonna be trouble, more than likely. Not worth it.

Now. Every one of those prescription medications has a big warning on the bottle “DO NOT OPERATE HEAVY MACHINERY” on it. As far as I’m concerned if one is prescribed any of that stuff, they should be precluded from

A. Driving
B. Voting

And firearms - if we’re going to say “No Firearms” why are they out walking around? If you can’t trust them with guns, why should they vote? Can they fly on a plane? See the nutroll the left forces on everyone?

“It’s enough to drive you crazy!” (Get it?)

Lock up the crazy people.

They kill with cars.
They kill with poisons.
They kill with blades.
They kill with arson.
They kill with random punches.

They kill. They “pass for normal” until they have a psychotic episode and kill.

If they are too dangerous to own a gun, they are too dangerous, period.

Just to agree with you. These holds are for liability reasons, not usually to help patient. I have seen several situations like you describe, involuntary hold, 5150, mental health, etc.

Some people are not tortured with muzak and sensory deprivation, but treated more like a guest with strict controls. But few are actually helped or ever evaluated. The insurance covers 3 days, then you’re out, with an rx, maybe referral to therapist if you’re quite lucky.

Caveat, if someone is suicidal or crazy, it’s important they get intervention right away. In that exigent situation, it’s better to be in hospital than at risk, or call a 800 hotline. The room that annoyed your friend in his normal state, could be soothing to someone psychotic.

[ When he got there, just picture the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. He never did get to talk to a doctor or anybody in authority. Any time he tried to talk to anybody that looked like a doctor or nurse, they just told him tersely that he’ll never get out of there if he doesn’t improve his attitude. There was super-annoying elevator music going 24/7 that was too loud. There was no TV, nothing to read, nothing to do but look at the 4 walls and talk to whoever you could. He was looking for a way to escape but it was locked-down tight like a jail and everybody that worked there was pissy. Think of Ben Stiller in Happy Gilmore. 72-hour evaluation nothing, it’s nothing but punishment. The place’s entire purpose is to make you crazy(er). I would’ve wound up in jail after choking somebody that works there. This is what liberals want for anybody that doesn’t toe the line and you’re crazy if you think they don’t.

You could add in all those on ADD, ADHD, XANAX, ZOLOFT and other Phyche drugs, all come with SUICIDE warnings. And get rid of Obama’s PROMISE Program.
