I thought I was done when he made the ridiculous statement about due process. But, I sat back and gave it time. I was wrong to do so. I am disappointed and sad. And, done. Our country had the opportunity to be great again but it doesn’t look like it will happen. Too many want the US to fail as a republic. History will show this as the time we chose the easy road versus the right. Is there no fight in our country any longer?

Is there a war coming? That's the only reason I can see why he signed this atrocious legislation.

We have the situation with North Korea, and we lost two anti-missile ships due to collisions. It would have been very good to have those in commission about now. And that reflects how bad things have gotten from the military.

I blame Ryan and especially the Turtle for serving up this shinola sandwich to Trump. It is the worst kind of politics to hold a critical need such as fixing our military hostage to pork. I think McConnell WANTS to keep the filibuster in place so he can claim he has to cave to the Dems to get anything done - because he WANTS to cave.

I'm a forever-Trumper, I'm very disappointed, but not surprised. People who claim he is playing 3-d chess are usually throwing around a red herring. He is a just a man who is getting beaten on the budget issue by the big spending politicians who are the majority in both parties. He is neither a superhero nor a villain

What's next? Economic growth to make up for some of the rise in spending and deficits. It won't solve the problem but will postpone the day of reckoning.

You couldn't possibly have insisted on a separate Military Appropriations bill?

Wouldn't get 60 Senate votes.

You are correct. The baby killers are happy. The career welfare recipients are rejoicing. The sand and normal people are sick to their stomachs.
We have been betrayed.

It could be worse, Trump could be like Reagan and allow 50 million illegals in.

In all seriousness, what would have happened had he vetoed the bill???

Congress would vote for an override, probably fail to get 67 votes in the Senate. Then they would pare down the military increase, strip out a bit of other spending and send it back as antoher CR. Sooner or later he would have to sign something.

Agreed.

Then I stand corrected. I had read that there was a Veto Proof majority from another Poster.

There were 3 Senators not Voting including Trump hater McCain.
It wouldn’t take much to get two Votes there.

The House would be another story.

Hyperbole much? This was the work of Ryan and the Turtle. Trump has to deal with what Congress sends to his desk. IMO he made a judgement call to get our military back on solid footing while accepting all the bullcrap pork that came with it. I blame Congress for forcing him into this situation - as Commander in Chief, first and foremost he has to have a military capable of defending our interests, and Obama and Congress punting that responsibility with sequestrization or whatever you call it.

Also the figure I had from an article was wrong. The senate did have 67 yesses. I guess we all need two or three sources at least - I wish the media used verifiable sources like they used to.

drivel....... conservatives lack the raw political power to have their agenda prevail.

The decision was made that now was not the time and place to have a war over the budget.

This is an omnibus, not a budget

P Trump is our last chance

He’s surrounded, and we’re on Little Round Top

We all know this

So you are saying the dumblecrats have the raw power to get their agenda passed?

Look, I am no expert on much of anything but I can see that this budget was a dumblecrat Christmas tree.
There never seems to be a time to fight over anything.

So they made their decision..and we all pay for it again.

And DJT approved it with some theatrics.
Its a disgusting spectacle of kibuki theater.

Planned Parenthood...really? Very limited funding for the wall and a provision that H2B visas be doubled. “Though Trump got funding for the wall, most of it will go towards erecting new barriers in places where old ones already exist, while the rest of the money has to be spent on the kind of fencing that the Department of Homeland Security has used in the past, not the concrete prototypes Trump commissioned.” The funding amounted to 1.6 billion and it was limited.

This is garbage. And there is nothing “drivel” about it.

I am hoping that, as the economy improves with the tax cuts, more people will be employed lightening the load on Federal social welfare services like Food stamps. That means the Rat programs which were approved in this absurd bloated budget won't be as needed, and possibly the domestic spending level (as opposed to budgeted amount) will actually be lower.

Hope is not a strategy. We're already at statistical zero employment, the economy is growing at a 3% rate, corporate profits have never been higher, and this budget will generate a $1 trillion-plus deficit this year. When the economy enters into a downturn - and it will someday - what slower growth and increased unemployment do to a deficit that's already 10 digits?

POTUS Trump Vetoes the Bill (that already had enough Votes in Both Houses to Override his Veto).

It was about 60 votes short in the House.

yes..... the fact is the congress made the decision not to engage in attempting to pass that which could not. The futile battle was not engaged.

Planned Parenthood has sand bags and barbed wire with a mine field and machine guns. Until and unless there is a congress with adequate political muscle, PP will prevail...... it’s that simple.

Wanting to is inadequate

“You can be mad at Trump all you want, but they had the votes to override a veto. Had he vetoed it, and Congress had overridden his veto, the press would have had a field day.”

You might be right.

But what the base is really distraught about, I think, is that Trump didn’t go down fighting. At least not the way ‘The Donald’ would have gone down fighting. The base would have been re-energized.

Frankly, a revitalized base of support would have been far more beneficial to the President, and his agenda, than placating the media. You may have noticed that the big media has attacked him 24/7 from the day he announced his candidacy - could they ever like DJT any less?
