Did Trump Just Hint at Building the Border Wall Using the Military?
The Epoch Times ^ | 03/24/2018 | Ivan Pentchoukov

President Donald Trump briefly threatened to veto a giant spending bill on Friday and then reluctantly signed it to keep the military funded.

The lack of funding for a border wall with Mexico is likely one of the president’s biggest frustrations. Trump mentioned the wall when he threatened to veto the bill. The $1.3 trillion budget includes just $1.6 billion for wall construction along the southern border, far short of the $25 billion needed to accomplish Trump’s signature campaign promise.

To make matters worse, the spending bill specifically prohibits Trump from building the kind of wall he wants. The president nevertheless celebrated the progress and pointed out that construction can begin immediately.

But Trump also dropped an eyebrow-raising hint that he could take an unprecedented option and build the wall using the enormous military budget.

“I want to address the situation on border security, which I call national defense,” Trump said. “I call it stopping drugs from pouring across our border. And I call it illegal immigration. It’s all of those things. But national defense is a very important two words. Because by having a strong border system, including a wall, we are in a position, militarily, that is very advantageous.”

For the first time, Trump underlined the significance of the barrier as a military structure and a matter of national defense. Up to now, the president promoted the wall as a way to curtail illegal immigration and stop the deadly flood of illicit drugs. The introduction of the wall’s military function is significant, especially in terms of funding it.

Roughly half of the spending bill is dedicated to the military for a total of over $654 billion allotted to the Pentagon’s base budget and overseas counterinsurgency operations. That’s enough to build the wall 26 times.

On Thursday, the day before the president signed the Omnibus spending bill, Sean Hannity mentioned that he, Sean, had spoken to the president. Sean mentioned this on his radio show.

Sean said the president told him that he has the money for the wall and that construction will begin soon. Maybe this is what the president was talking about.

If this is the case then the President has just given the middle figure to the rats, and the establishment sell outs, and outmaneuvered them

If O’muslim could hand out 100’s of billions of dollars in ‘green energy’ loans to his cronies for fake projects and companies, surely Trump could do the same thing to get the wall built. Cover it in solar panels and get the money from the DOE. This can’t be that hard.

An amendment was offered by Republican Reps. Steven Palazzo and Trent Kelly from Mississippi (which has coastline but no land border) to strike Section 1039. That means Pentagon money could be spent to construct a border wall. In the normal process of things, this amendment would have been accepted by the Rules Committee and then debated and voted on by the full House of Representatives. But nothing about this amendment can be called normal.

This may be the greatest 'catch' in FReeper history.

If the military is the mecha for the Wall, this is better than nested glyphs.

“Wishful thinking since the legislation says no wall. It wouldn’t take long for some court to say No, “

This seems correct. Trump signed a bill the says specifically no new wall construction. My fear is Trump is floating this to playcate his base because he must know we are outraged. His base is all has and he knows that too.

"let them wake up one morning to a couple thousand troops building a wall"

Absolutely. Let the couple of bases near the border 'rebuild' the current border wall, on just the basis of national security.

Admittedly, yesterday’s events were initially disheartening.
But I’ll surrender when I quit breathing.
In the meantime, I’ll retain the hope that as long as DJT is in the WH, we still have a chance.
The alternative would be something none of us wants.

There’s always the chance that the surrender monkeys may be proven right in the end, but until then they can all kiss my white ass.

Not only this but he can enforce existing law on illegal employment and human trafficking.

According to Jerome Corsi, today, this was how Obama operated for 8 years. Billions are still unaccounted for.

If indeed the Wall construction begins, what are all these whiners (who have come out in droves out of the wood-work) going to say? Most are Cruz supporters from past posting history.

Move the MP school and the desert training command to the border. Move a few Army forts to the border. They do us no good inland.
