The Turkish military isn’t what it used to be. Erdogan has purged the best of the military because of his paranoia — think Stalin before WW2 getting rid of the Cream of the Red Army.

The majority of the 920,000 troops often talked about...are young conscripted guys (on a mandated one-year tour).
