Time for a demonstration. Put 12 teachers with bats in an active classroom. At a random time, have someone rush in with a paintball gun. See how many teachers strike the shooter before being shot with a paint ball.

You could even try it again where everyone knows rpthe exact time the paint ball shooter will attack the room. I would still bet not a single teacher closes on the shooter before multiple paintball hits.

We’ve kept a regular size bat by the front and back door for years. it would be
effective in an emergency situation, and readily available.

I don’t know what that little bat is, is that considered a “billy club”...I don’t think so.

I think the ideal situation, if they’re not going to allow armed teachers, would to give each teacher a taser.

There was a humorous bit in an NCIS episode this year where Gibbs discovered how to use a taser. A teacher armed with a taser at least wouldn’t need to be a foot in front of the guy before he/she hit him.
