Oh, no! Food deserts! I live in a food desert with no public transportation but my skin isn't the right color for the likes of Jesse to rush to my aide. Must check my white privilege.

Stupid.

Kroger is already boycotting the inner city because there is no business opportunity there....

Maybe The good Rev. Jackson can open his own store in the hood and show us how it’s done.

A grocery store is closing on April 20 about 1 mile away from me. Even though it is closer I never cared for it due to parking, getting back to my place because of heavy traffic and not enough cashiers which caused longer waits and people asking me for money outside the store. Never bought meat there as well, it was suspect.

I would drive 4 miles to another store or will stop at a store on the way home from work which is near 20 miles away. I have a choice of 3 stores within 3 to 6 miles along my route back.

It only takes a relatively small number of shoplifters to cause a grocery store to close down. They have more than a small number of shoplifters in those neighborhoods. The good black people in those neighborhoods should complain to their family members and neighbors who are doing the shoplifting.

Is this near the city where a councilwoman wants to make it against the law for a store owner to put up a fence or barrier between them and the customer? Yet another harebrained idea based on ‘feelings’.

These stores close because they get ripped off. Most of the time their truck deliveries disappear before getting in the store.

People have free food stamps and still rob and shoplift these stores blind.

It is other paying consumers who pay for the theft and the food stamps.

Just sickening.

Crime and shoplifting are major reasons why stores close up in the inner city. Another reason why grocery stores close up shop is that food safety and proper hygiene are more likely to be neglected in inner city stores. Try and find a manager and a group of employees who are willing to work in a dangerous neighbor and also make sure raw meat and dairy is kept at a safe temp and old food is properly disposed of.
