April 13 (UPI) -- A venture capitalist billionaire said he received enough signatures to get a measure on California's November ballot that asks voters if they want to split California into three states.

Tim Draper, the chairman of Cal 3, the organization pushing the measure, said they've obtained more than 600,000 signatures -- nearly twice the number needed to get on a state ballot -- and will present them to the California Secretary of State for verification.

It’s a trap! Just a way to create 4 more Progressive Senators.

Are one or more of these states going to secede and “reconquist” with Mexico?

The split looks pretty decent, California would consist of LA and San Francisco (unfortunately OC is stuck) then So Cal and NoCal.

It would be interesting.

Yes and no.

I think there could be times when the southern one, could possibly vote contrary to the other two.

It starts basically at Orange County, I think.

Basically you are right, though. This could be why it has a chance of actually passing, I think.

The northern one might also have some degree of independence. Though San Francisco is in it, I think. So I think that one would still be very liberal.

Actually, if carried out and Jefferson (the state) exists....then it’ll be two GOP senators. And this southern state that they discuss....would include all of the SW, and San Diego....fairly high chances that at least one...maybe both senators...would be GOP.

The North Staters are screwed, so long as SF is part of that entity.

This is fine with me, as long as Delaware can split into three states.

Never happen as these three would create 4 more Democratic senators.

3 blue states. The shade of blue being indicative of ‘rat majority intensity.

San Francisco would be in another state and wouldn’t have the clout it does today.

NorCal and SolCal are predominantly rural - Cal is predominantly urban.

Don’t worry, its dead on arrival cause Democrat voters will never consent to the creation of two new GOP states on their doorstep.

That has much change of happening as penguins flying.

“The North Staters are screwed, so long as SF is part of that entity.”.........

Why could they NOT split “vertically” (east/west) in certain areas. I would imagine that population will be a key factor no matter how they might split, can’t have one new “state” having more population than another. Could be a real mess it this pipe dream ever actually happens.
