President Johnson declared war on poverty over 50 years ago. Arguably poverty won.
While many may argue that Johnson and the Democrats of the day, had the best of intentions, it’s hard to argue with the results, or lack of results, of the effort.
Liberals almost never mention the war on poverty or whether objectives of the war were met.
The last thing the Democrat Party wants is an end to the misery in Chicago.

Oh, I’m sure this will work like a charm. Whenever millions or even billions are given to the poor, they keep them pristine and functional for generations to come.

Hate to be a downer but the past is prologue; Kanye will eventually find his way back to the bosom of the Left.
I’m sure the democrats will do everything in their power to stop this. They have to keep their voters poor and dependent.
If they go, and really listen, they’ll hear that gangs have taken over the streets and kids don’t stand a chance. The need desperately to work with the police, and take it block by block. That’s the way it went to hell, block by block. If they want to invest, start with food stores and hire employees under a salary, and a profit sharing incentive. The better the store does, the better they do. This will cut down on shoplifting, and could create meaningful work.
Gather anyone who has the skills to fix and repair things. Bring in skilled craftsmen to teach. Whatever it takes, block by block. BUT, they have to be willing to see some folks off to jail, and not hate the police for it. When one block gets better, expand.
