Confidants of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told the White House that President Trump wont be invited to the ailing senators funeral, according to a new report.
Plans for McCains funeral, according to the New York Times, include an invite for Vice President Mike Pence, but not the president. The service will be held at Washingtons National Cathedral.
Trump and McCain have had an embattled relationship during the presidents time in the White House...

But Republican primary voters were clueless in 2008; they are part of the national problem too.
Average people don’t have invitations for their funerals. But the popular elite may do so.
If he really wanted to stick it to Trump, he would have Trump give his eulogy. This way, he is letting Trump off the hook, since I’m sure Trump doesn’t want to be there.
With a side order of asparagus!
Trump is a lifelong teetotaler. Not that he would even bother.
Oh yes the “my good friend across the aisle” nonsense. I get sick to my stomach when they do that.
He’ll to pass four or five times before the people of AZ will believe it.
Jack French Kemp did that also with his constant “my friend Al Gore” remarks in their “debate” of 1996.
True. Most people go for name recognition or totally fall for the “official” biography which is always laughably embellished.
They ARE a problem.
I really do like the way they do it in some of the Eastern European countries. Knock down, drag out brawls at least you can believe them. LOL. I would love to see Schumer and Turtle go at it.
Horse drawn carriage down Pennsylvania Ave is for Presidents. I watched President Reagan go by. Horse drawn carriage in Arlington Cemetery is for POWs. McCain merits this. No President need attend.
What a vile human being.
When McCain dies, I am posting a celebration thread. JimRob, please make an exception this one time for me.
The funeral of a traitor
I'd crash it, with strippers and clowns.
Which statement Trump apologized for almost immediately. Of course the media never mentions this. Additionally Veterans seem to like PDJT overwhelmingly. I dont know if he apologized for any of his other such statements.
One suspects that for McCain, Trump represents the ultimate embarrassment.
McCain's strat for POTUS win was to play the mythical middle, and try to RINO charge the election. He must have been certain that at least some of his alleged buddies in the media would have supported him for all the pottying on his party and Country.
Trump won by representing himself as a strongly pro- American, pro-border securing patriot, a characterization that McCain tended to avoid. A political "novice" upstages an untrustworthy "maverick" with appeals to traditional Americans.
McCain did and does have a legitimate beef w Trump when during the election season, Trump stated Hes not a war hero...He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who werent captured. I suspect that this unfortunate remark explains much, if not most, of McCain's animosity toward Trump.
Many of our finest Heros were , indeed, captured. And, it took a lot of guts and skill to fly A-4s off ships and into combat, attacking at low altitudes in a minimalist, subsonic airplane. There was no excuse for Trump's statement. (Some here do not agree, we'll agree to disagree.)
That said, considering the Traditional America-hating Mister Obama as a eulogist explains much of what we have always suspected about what a RINO weasel is Mister McCain.
Pence should not go either. John McCain has made himself irrelevant.
Shouldn’t he be preparing for the next life? Forgiving, not clinging to grudges and being nasty.
He’s a strange man.
Like Pence should NOT attend in these circumstances
Bitter old loser McCain
