CNN Poll: Trump approval steady amid rising outlook for the country

President Donald Trump's approval rating is holding steady in a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, but his numbers on handling several key issues are climbing, as almost 6 in 10 say things in the country are going well. Overall, 41% approve of the President's work, and 53% disapprove. Those numbers are about the same as at the end of March.

On the issues, however, Trump's numbers are climbing. Approval is up 4 points on the economy to 52%, the first time it's topped 50% since March 2017; up 5 points on foreign trade to 43% approval; and his numbers on immigration have improved 4 points since February, with 40% now approving. On handling foreign affairs, Trump's approval rating tops 40% for the first time since April of 2017, though the increase since March is not statistically significant (42% approve currently).

The President's improving issue ratings come amid a sharp rise in positive impressions of how the country is doing. Overall, 57% say things are going well in the US today -- up from 49% saying the same in February -- which is the largest proportion to say so since January of 2007.

Even cooking the books, CNN can't ignore that Trump is climbing and doing well.

A particularly hilarious chyron on the page is this:

All in all, do you think Donald Trump has done a better job as president than Hillary Clinton would have done if she had been elected in 2016, or do you think Clinton would have done a better job as president than Trump has done?

Clinton: 47%
Trump: 44%

They still can't figure out "What Happened"...

Remember, this is a CNN poll! In a LEGITIMATE poll, he would be doing MUCH BETTER.

Keep in the fake poll is of registered voters.

A likely voter poll would show Trump over 50%.

Watch out for tricks like this.

Nevertheless, it must be pain CNN to report Trump is increasingly popular.

All their fake news against him hasn’t sent his approval ratings downwards to G.W Bush territory.

What worked against Bush isn’t working against Trump.

Looking back....every ounce of ‘kryptonite’ has been used, and nothing has done any harm. If anything....Bush, Sessions, Romney, and a host of GOP-pretenders have lost their respect. You could accomplish the election tomorrow, and you’d have thirty states in the win column.

Toss on the fact that the CNN folks have lost a fair amount of respect with the public, and viewers.

Larry Sabato: “You must add 10 points to every Trump poll for polling bias.”

I was just talking to a friend who lives in North Jersey, she said her (Hispanic) lawn guy who has cut her lawn for years, who had five kids, suddenly this year didn't come to her house to sign her up for another season. She can't reach him, and thinks he might have left the country.

I went to BJ's last week and noticed that the number of A-A employees they have has basically doubled since the last time I went. They've always had a good number of A-A employees, but the number has really gone up. I think they've been staffing up; there just seemed to be more employees around doing things than there used to be.

PDJT's comments about A-A employment are definitely not empty rhetoric. If I can see it where I live (basically average-town USA) it must be really obvious elsewhere.

The rising economy, more than all the spin, is what saved Bill Clinton. It will do no less for Trump. That, and the fact that he hasn’t perjured himself.

Flipping through TV channels the other night, late night talk show host had Cory Booker as a guest. Late night talk show host mocked the assertion of those who think Trump should receive the “Nobel Peace Prize.” Booker then snickered which led to the audience to giggle. The party of snickers and gigglers.
