President Donald Trump cannot block users on his Twitter feed, a federal judge in New York City ruled Wednesday. Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald said in her ruling that Trump is violating the U.S. Constitution by preventing certain Americans from viewing his tweets.
The social media platform, Buchwald said, is a "designated public forum" from which Trump cannot exclude individual plaintiffs.
So why can Twitter block conservatives and put them in Twitter jail for no reason but their opinions? We have no rule of law in the courts anymore than fairness in the media.
So a PRIVATE Twitter account owner has no control over who to allow comment on their account?!
Good point. Now twitter cannot censor conservatives?
What is a A designated public forum? What does that mean? Respect for all legal discussion, thus full 1st amendment rights for everyone? Is YouTube a A designated public forum and does that mean they can no longer block legal gun discussion and videos?
And YouTube!
Why would the President even follow this Judge’s ruling? Block the twitter account.
That’s what I see..
So conversely twitter cannot ever ban DJT’s account.
Because they would in essence be blocking EVERYONE.
Brilliant!!
I love it!
The “conservative” magazine The National Review blocks pro-Trump conservatives from commenting on their webpage by refusing to allow them to subscribe and comment. Will National Review also have to allow those with whom it disagrees to comment?
Does he have to read all of their letters and emails too?
Nonsense ruling, and unenforceable.
It’s only ok when Obamunists do it
Judge doesn’t know how twitter works. He really can’t block them - they can log out and still read his tweets. Or read his tweets from a different account.
The judge went further, ordering POTUS to read EVERY letter that arrives at the White House.
There’s always the “mute” feature, which allows replies, but hides them from the account holder.
Excellent point. Any person can read any tweet as long as they are don’t sign in to their Twitter account.
I view Trump’s twitter thee same way.
Oops, Obama just opened a Twitter account and has already blocked somebody. I wonder if the same rules apply to him, he is after all the ex president.
(The social media platform, Buchwald said, is a “designated public forum” from which Trump cannot exclude individual plaintiffs.)
Cool. This makes Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube, public utilities. As such, they need to be regulated to ensure that they do not discriminate based on political viewpoint!
Thing is, I can kinda see this if it was an official government Twit feed such as his @POTUS account, but this is PDJT’s personal Twitter he has had since long before he was President.
Paging the FCC
That's not the real issue. As always, the MEDIA is trying to hide the real issue.
The issue is that the USER (plaintiff) wants to POST on Trump's Twitter Account.
