Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is reportedly in negotiations with Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley to be granted immunity in exchange for his testimony on the upcoming Justice Department Inspector General report on the FBI’s handling of the Clinton email probe. “Grassley, an Iowa Republican, has quietly requested that several former officials appear in front of the Judiciary Committee to discuss the long-awaited internal Justice Department report, which sources say will detail a series of missteps surrounding the Justice Department and FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s handling of classified information while secretary of state,” CNN reports.
“Under the terms of such a grant of use immunity, no testimony or other information provided by Mr. McCabe could be used against him in a criminal case,” Michael Bromwich, an attorney for the former FBI official, told Grassley.
“Mr. McCabe is willing to testify, but because of the criminal referral, he must be afforded suitable legal protection,” Bromwich added.

The title is a little misleading. He isn’t asking for immunity from any crimes he may have committed, he is saying he wants immunity on the testimony he will give. In other words, whatever testimony he gives to congress will not be admissible in a future criminal prosecution. So he still could be prosecuted, but they couldn’t use this testimony against him.

Great news if true, and it probably is true. But I hope the deal really holds McCabe’s feet to the fire. I don’t trust that snake. At all.
Go back to Comey’s memos. Trump asked him about McCabe...more than once. Comey said he was a great guy and the President would like him. Trump, asked him again...You’ll love him.

No. If, in the future, a prosecutor thinks he has something worthwhile to pony up he can give him immunity. Immunity for testifying to nothing to a Congressional committee that can do nothing is pointless.
