Shoddy practices...suspects should always be cuffed behind the back and ankle shackles!!!
Following security protocols is crucial, even more so when there is a perceived weakness in the people providing the security.
Precisely.
I recall that case. Yep. That was a terrible brutal price to pay to be politically correct. Leftist policies literally kill people. And I’m not saying it was the female deputy who’s gun was taken and used to shoot them both to death. It just seem odd, since they’ve know damn well what happened for 2 days now yet still refuse to reveal the facts.
I always wondered about the idea of “armed officers” in close proximity to dangerous criminals.
Why would officers handling prisoners need a weapon? Cuffed shackled prisoners aren’t going anywhere. Is an officer likely to draw his service weapon and shoot a cuffed shackled prisoner?
As with prison guards, “In most locations, correctional officers are not allowed to bring in any types of weapons into a correctional facility”
Why not? To prevent exactly what happened to these officers.
Unintended consequence of having “one in the pipe”? The guy was handcuffed and would have had a hard time racking the slide or disengaging a safety...if there was one.
Sorry, but that's no job for a woman.
“Could this be a poor use of female officers?”
I used to be of this thinking, but then I watched COPS and now LIVE PD.
REAL life, no scripts, no acting. It’s a microcosm of America.
I see diminutive (small) female officers run, tackle, wrestle, cuff, bad guys just like the men do.
Women can absolutely do this job as well as men!
His NFL career is shot.
I’m not positive he was cuffed. But they too can be defeated by a suspect like this guy.

He should be executed for his looks alone.
“The deputies, Patrick Rohrer, 35, and Theresa King, 44”
SORRY if it hurts some ‘feelings’ here, but we have over 150 MILLION males in this country. Do we really have ‘no choice’ in putting women (who were born as women) up DIRECTLY against these animals? Can we PLEASE get to the point of saying that we prefer MEN, who at least have a decent chance of surviving, be the front line against these beasts?
Is that REALLY too much to ask? There’s NO SHORTAGE of jobs in law enforcement where kids don’t have to lose their moms to make a political statement.
If I were to guess the first deputy to be disarmed, I would say the woman. When I was studying to be an EMT in the 70’s, one of our teachers was a San Diego county Sheriff. During the class at one point, the subject of female paramedics came up. He was fine with women paramedics, but had reservations about women as cops. He stated that over 80% of officer disarms by arrestees were women officers.
Of course you may want an armed guard to fight against outsiders trying to free a prisoner. But that guard shouldn’t get near the prisoner, just be on duty to stop escape conspiracies.
I wonder if the jurors on the hung juries feel any regrets.
Hang the judge who let this POS out on the street to commit another murder.
I thought, since that female Deputy was overpowered a few years ago in Atlanta that ALL murdering assholes
like this guy were being transported in leg shackles and with their hands cuffed to their waist?
IOW, they would be basically unable to overpower their guards?
What were they thinking at the KC Sheriff’s Department?
And, of course, the other question is, to whomever shot the bad guy: “Why did you not finish the job?”
I really can’t understand a Cops mental state when they have to transport killers. They should have been in condition code red.
It’s never a good idea to have an armed officer handling inmates in transit. It’s best to have an unarmed officer handle the inmate while the armed officer remains a short distance away. It’s too easy for an inmate to grab the gun if the officer is busy hooking them up.
Inspector Chode: “But out there you have a partner and if you get blown away he get’s blown away also”. (Or close to that...)
