If you want a monument to Texas bravery... go see the Alamo, if you want a monument to just how long the odds were, go to Splash Town!

I can understand where you’re coming from. I also have Texas roots.

If I’m not mistaken, more than one of the volunteers defending the Alamo were from England.

I heard there were women and children with the Mexican army besieging the Alamo

Things haven’t changed much in 200 years …...

Most things that any Bush wants to do are a bad idea in my experience. They should just forget the whole thing and leave the Alamo as is.

You are correct. And more Tennesseans died in the Alamo than from any other state.

When they did the movie about the Alamo with John Wayne, they built a replica of it 100 miles west of San Antonio. I have been to it and it does seem bigger especially with no other buildings surrounding it.

Fun fact: John Wayne and some pals bought that property where they built the Alamo replica and they did a number of westerns there, like Rio Bravo.

First time I flew to Dallas I was expecting tumbleweeds and those swinging bar doors all over the place. I could not believe how green it was.

Phil Collins stored the Alamo artifacts in his ...wait for it ...basement:

Then in June 2014—after storing the extensive collection in the basement of his home outside Geneva, Switzerland—Collins announced that he was donating the artifacts to the Alamo, even agreeing to pay for the cost of shipping the items to San Antonio. “There’s no point in my keeping the cream of it for me because I want everyone to see everything,” he said at the press conference announcing the donation.

I know but my Texan born and bred cat should have more say than a Brit does. I don’t give a flying fig what he has to say.

I don't think your dumbass cat has amassed millions of dollars of Alamo artifacts. And about the only thing it would be willing to part with is dead mice...........

So how many other of you Texans are willing or even have the goods, to contribute to your Alamo museum?..........All hat and no cattle......LOL!

tens of millions of dollars according to Texas Monthly, is so large that the Alamo is raising money to construct a $100 million museum that will permanently house and interpret the Phil Collins Alamo Collection.

I just went to the Alamo this past summer... who says they don’t understand the story???? They need more space to tell it??

Well, the current story honors the defenders of the Alamo. Mexican Bush wants to honor his people. First step is getting rid of the Centopath. Then build a modern glass wall in front of it so it will look more like a modern skyscraper. Alcohol is always a moneymaker, so don't forget a rooftop bar, because, let's face it, no one wants to walk that long block to the Riverwalk to get a drink. Add some shops.

If one goes to the Alamo and reads the names on the walls it is patriots from Tennessee, Kentucky, Ireland, Great Britain etc. and very importantly Mexicans from Texas. They all stood together against tyranny and they died together. That is what Texas is today. It is our state of all the above.

Politicians try to divide us by race today. They are charlatans. WE ARE TEXANS FIRST, though our skin colors may be different we are damn sure Texans!

Probably mentioned in the article, but he donated most of it with the stipulation that it be displayed and not put in a warehouse with the Ark of the Covenant.

Rod Stewart is big into model railroading.
