2 Reasons Why the Media Will Drop Coverage of the Capital Gazette Shooting
daily signal ^ | 6/29/2018 | amy swearer

On Thursday, four journalists and one staff member of the Capital Gazette were murdered in the newspaper’s Annapolis, Maryland, office.

While the event was initially widely covered by all major news outlets, the media is likely to quickly move on from the story, just like it did with the Santa Fe High School shooting, because it doesn’t fit the right narrative. (Unlike many of the Parkland students, the Santa Fe students didn’t respond to the tragedy by calling for gun control measures.)

That in itself is a shame, not just because there is much to learn from this tragedy, but also because the inspiring courage of the surviving journalists deserves more than a single news cycle.

In the immediate scene of violence the only thing that can stop a bad man with a gun is a good man with a gun. It is that damn simple. The police due to location and training were on the scene within a minute. They did good. But five people died because they did not have weapons to defend themselves.

Gun free zones are actually a free fire zone for bad guys. I always carry anyplace it is legal. If I were in that newspaper office I would not have been carrying because it would have been illegal. I would have just been another victim instead of a defender.

Far as I can see....Friday morning was the last point of max-chat by the news organizations. I’ll bet by Monday that it’s completely gone from national coverage.

Lugenpresse media drops this one in the memory hole due to:

“Ramos”

“shotgun”

Doesn’t help the progressive narrative, so on to the next “outrage”.

IF the killer really had ‘left a hat behind’ it would be front page for the next month - probably right up to the midterms...

Frankly, I think the media is scared to death that the kooks will start to realize just how soft a target the media is and try to increase their notoriety with a higher body count.

Groaning on about the “media” is idiotic. Name the corps, name the BODs.

Chicago is Black on Black crime.

Annapolis was crazy mental patient on crazy mental case reporters.

Not only will it drop because it doesn’t fit the narrative or agreed-upon talking points, it fits exactly to the pro-gun argument about gun laws in general, i.e. there are already plenty of laws while enforcement is lacking. Multiple points of potential lawful intervention to respond to this unhinged mental case were overlooked. The threatened journalists, now deceased victims, failed to respond with reasonable steps to their security, choosing to go with a false hope in societal norms and laws working. As could be easily predicted in retrospect, laws and norms have no effect on mental cases so personal vigilance becomes the responsible choice while continuing to press for effective law enforcement to remove the known threat. Failing to learn this lesson multiple times in recent events has ensured we’ll see it again.

Yesterday I finally got around to reading the article that got the shooter started with the newspaper, “Jared wants to be your friend”. Very informative about how the whole problem started, along with an admission by the writer that the shooter had been behaving himself for awhile(if that’s possible). If there was court arranged, delicate peace between the parties, why did the paper publish it? I know that people who write for a living, have to write or they won’t make a living, but why did they pick the time they did, to rattle this guy’s cage? A public service story about the dangers of facebook wouldn’t have changed all names. Aside from that, it’s a very informative article about how bad it got for his first victim years ago, who was/is still hiding from him.

Probably half can. Another 25% will never ever and the other 25% don’t follow or know anything.

I wondered the same thing, 50mm.

I always carried during my newspaper days, and locked the piece in my desk if I had to visit one of the schools. Otherwise, I was ready to become part of the story if the need arose.

But then again, I’m not a pinko with Democrap loyalties. Nope.

Maryland is a blue state and concealed carry is difficult to get there. You have to show a good reason to have one and personal protection isn’t good enough. I won’t even consider visiting a state that severely restricts the 2nd Amendment because they’re basically free-fire zones for criminals, muzzies and the insane.

Reason 4. The weapon turned out not to be an AR fully automatic pump shotgun with a bump stock.

I read where one reporter was hectoring the Police Chief, asking if the murder weapon was a "tactical shotgun". Trying to shoehorn the gun to fit the narrative.

The Chief blew him off. (no pun intended)
