Reading the linked article, there is something fishy about the guy who is criticizing Kavanaugh''s investigation into Ken Foster's death in Fort Marcy Park:

Rodriguez went back to the U.S. attorney's office in Sacramento, where, following a gender identity change, he is today serving the public and continuing to fight crime.

Judge Barrett would of been defeated if she had been nominated tonight because in a 51-49 GOP senate there are at least a half dozen or so senators on our “side” that can’t be trusted. If we pick up 5-7 senate seats in November, which I think is possible, then I think Judge Barrett will be the next SC nominee when the next opening occurs! Don’t be so shortsighted. Look at the whole picture. I don’t trust Kavanaugh, but he may be the only one who can be confirmed right now!

If Rand Paul is a no, and McCain still collecting money for not representing the good people of Arizona, they’re in need of a few dem votes. I doubt those running for reelection in red states will throw their seats just to put the kibosh on this nominee.

I agree with you. could be to that Murkowsky and/or Collins told the President they would not vote for Barret. President Trump may have calculated that after the mid-terms he can pass her without the RINOettes. He has a history of pushing women to the top of his private corporations. I think he is itching to appoint a woman and Barret is a great pick.

Trump also gets to choose Kavanaughs replacement on DC Court of Appeals. Nice move Mr. President!

Donald TRUMP needs to make Red State UNDERSTAND that we need Republican Senators for the next Supreme Court pick from RBG!!! Don't vote in a Democrat again!

That will be a FIGHT! We will need 5+ Seat margin!!!

I’m a Methodist that believes in God.
An old fashioned John Wesley Methodist.

Epworth myself. i believe he was referring to United Methodists, the black sheep of the Methodist church.

This is typical Republican pick. Either Bush could have picked him. At worse court is status quo, at best it tilts further right. The next vacancy, either Thomas, Buzzie or Breyer gets replaced by far more conservative judge.

yes, pray for an increased majority in the Senate so Barrett can get in there among other things.

Not my first choice, but Trump vetted him and that’s good enough for me. Trump was an unknown commodity when I voted for him and he has exceeded my wildest expectations. If Trump was 1/2 as good as he’s been, I’d be ecstatic. He is rapidly climbing my list of best Presidents ever and he is only in year 2 (currently 1A). I will defer to him on this, and probably be pleasantly surprised.

If we pick up five or more senate seats you can bet she will be the next SC nominee. The big picture is she probably would have been rejected by this senate. No need to waste a great future SC justice in a losing battle. I think in the end this was the right choice by the president tonight. Kavanaugh would not of been my choice and I’m sure he wasn’t President Trump’s first choice either. I don’t doubt his abilities as our field general in the fight against the left. I just don’t his troops in Congress. Hopefully we can give him more reinforcements in November, and more people who will be willing to fight for and with him!

How did you feel about Gorsuch? I remember being here and everyone was freaking out because of the church he attended. Mostly all anyone had here is a gut feeling (unless you regularly read court opinions yet in year out). It’s Trump’s call, he isn’t one to hide his thought process. You can have a bad feeling about it but I’d bguess you don’t really have a clue beyond what you’ve heard for the last two weeks which was all said with a purpose to sway the public
