Trump at NATO summit: 'Germany is totally controlled by Russia'
CNBC ^ | July 11, 2018 | Sam Meredith, Natasha Turak

“Germany is totally controlled by Russia … They will be getting between 60 and 70 percent of their energy from Russia and a new pipeline, and you tell me if that is appropriate because I think its not,” Trump said.

The U.S. president was speaking at a press conference in front of NATO representatives ahead of a two-day summit.

The Trump administration’s policies indicate it views security and trade as intimately linked. And when it comes to the trade balance, no ally will be spared.

Speaking in Brussels, Belgium on the first leg of his European trip, the U.S. president said a flurry of oil and gas deals had given Moscow far too much influence over the continent’s largest economy.

In particular, he singled out the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project as being especially "inappropriate."

“I think it is a very bad thing for NATO and I don’t think it should have happened and I think we have to talk to Germany about it. On top of that, Germany is just paying a little bit over 1 percent (on defense) … And I think that is inappropriate also,” he added. 'An attack on Germany and Russia'

Trump has long criticized Berlin and other NATO allies for “freeriding” on Washington’s defense capabilities. Currently only five of NATO’s 29 member states actually allocate the 2 percent of their gross domestic product (GDP) to military spending that they are formally committed to as part of the alliance. Those five are the U.S., the U.K., Greece, Estonia and Poland.

So they make less profit or sell at cost, Germany still gets cheaper gas and oil and drives market prices lower so everyone else benefits from lower prices as well.

With lower prices comes greater dependence. It gives Russia greater leverage over its customers. Sort of like the drug dealer has with his junkies.

As for Ukraine, let Nuland take care of Ukraine out of her share of the Hillary/Obama billions they stole. When they can't siphon off gas to make a buck and claim it's Russia short changing Europe the country will finally shatter into the three or four pieces it's been destined to break apart into ever since it became independent.

Are you a Russian troll? I guess you think Ukraine should have remained as part of the Soviet Empire.

Ya' know, it's a funny damn thing that the Free Traitors are all for trade with China, which is still absolutely Communist, and all of East Asia because, "trade will open them up and gradually make them more democratic and Westernized", but they damn sure don't apply that same rule to Russia.

Precisely. However, in the case of China, the US has the real leverage and until Trump, was afraid to use it or the globalists were happy with the status quo and the bottom line.

As long as she is leader of Germany this relationship will stand even when on rough waters.

That’s why I said at times that unless you live south of Sendai, solar power in Japan is not that useful, no thanks to the harsh winters on the Sea of Japan side and in northern Japan. Here in California, solar power is viable because there is enough sunny days to make it worthwhile in most of the state.

"Are you a Russian troll?"

Sure, Hillary, everyone is a russian troll.

I guess you didn't note my comment regarding them not establishing a Federal system where the states have rights. You know, like electing their own governors rather than governors being appointed by whoever rules in Kiev.

Nah, someone doesn't agree with you call em' a russian troll and pretend they made some assertion they didn't.

Maybe you could read and try and understand the comments people make, maybe you could figure out that Ukraine as established was doomed from the outset and has stayed in constant turmoil from the start, or maybe you can keep being a ringer for your Hillary scum pals who just don't like any opinion not their own.

Makes no difference to me, you're obviously a jerk at this point so stay one if you like.

None of it actually matters. NATO is just an excuse to spend money on weapons. Russia has zero interest in invading Europe, so having this multinational military block to “defend” against it is beyond absurd. NATO should have been dissolved when the Warsaw Pact was.

There is no "Soviet Empire" anymore, so let's stop with that BS.

Ukraine is an absolute cluster**** right now...anyone who thinks its some bastion of freedom and democracy is gravely mistaken. It is essentially one of the poorest, most oppressive, most disgustingly corrupt countries on the planet at the moment...and it absolutely needs to be allowed to disintegrate into its more-or-less "natural" parts, so some kind of recovery can begin.

Trump wants Nato COUNTRIES to increase defense from 2% TO 4%.
Currently only 8 countries reach the 2% already long established.

If you need proof of what a hell-hole Ukraine has become, look at the sheer number of Ukrainians who have left to live in Russia...in 2010 there were 1.9 million Ukrainians in Russia...in 2015, 5.8 million. Judging by the sheer numbers queuing at all of the migration centers here in the Krasnodarskiy Krai, that number is increasing all the time.

And no, I'm not a Russian troll, I am a natural-born US citizen who happens to live in Russia at the moment.

Ukraine will never be more than a welfare state as the leadership and manner of governance simply dances around requirements to be a Nato country. They never really change.
