Unless I'm missing it, I'm surprised there is no thread for the Trump meeting with Putin. The media (and even some of Trump allies) are going ballistic.
Trump said that both sides have contributed to the atmosphere, and while he brought up the meddling, he seemed to be open to Putin's denial and suggestion to allow Mueller to question his people in exchange for them being allowed to question Bill Browder & others.
Trump questioned the intelligence agencies with regard to the Clinton investigation, for not getting the server of the DNC, and the bias of people like Strozk. He then forcefully denied collusion (which I believe) and said he felt this was an attempt to undermine his election victory.
Trump has definitely tied this Mueller investigation to his election victory. He doesn't seem to have separated out the verdict against the Russians for meddling with the accusations of collusion. I think he believes this entire investigation is being done to undermine his victory and get him impeached. With the sheer bias in the intelligence agencies, I understand his skepticism between how they handled the Clinton probe to how this has gone one with the investigation of him with the bias, dossier, spies, unmaskings, Mueller's team of Dems, and so forth.
That said, the media is in an uproar. John Brennan said:
"Donald Trumps press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of high crimes & misdemeanors. It was nothing short of treasonous. Not only were Trumps comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???"
Statements like that are why Trump doesn't trust the intelligence agencies by the way.
Anderson Cooper compared him to Rainman and said it was one of the most "disgraceful performances" he's ever seen from a President.
Neil Cavuto on Fox called it "digusting", and Ed Henry thought he should have called Putin out for the hacking.
Anyway, there have been people who have criticized him who are Republicans like Sasse, Flake, and some mild criticism from Graham.
One that did surprise me considering her dad is Ambassador to Russia, is Abby Huntsman. She Tweeted, "No negotiation is worth throwing your own people and country under the bus."
There are Republicans who have defended him. Issa did per CNN, and CNN said many they talked to in the House defended him in light of the FBI bias. CNN in general is having a meltdown. I literally was laughing while watching the hysteria.
For the record, I think it's entirely possible Russia hacked the DNC and Podesta. However, without the DNC servers, I am somewhat skeptical, and as I said before, I understand his skepticism between how they handled the Clinton probe to how this has gone one with the investigation of him with the bias, dossier, spies, unmaskings, Mueller's team of Dems, and so forth.
I don't trust Mueller at this point. There has been no guilty verdict or trial yet. He certainly has put forth his evidence of hacking, although not collusion. Here's what he could do - it's possible he simultaneously didn't collude but that Russia was involved in the hacking. However, I think Trump has linked the two, and that will earn him criticism.
There are a lot of calls from the left and media and some establishment Republicans of criticism if not treason. We can post reaction here and discuss it from all sides.
The bobbleheads on FNC are all trying to swerve to the far left in order to compete with CNN. FNC used to be on at my house all day long. Now, I remote right past it. It has become just another worthless DNC propaganda channel. When you’re looking for Trump haters, it’s a good place to start.
Huntsman ( the name is good rhyming slang) is a Marxist whomworked with Obozzo when he attempts to destroy the Republic,
He was humiliated by true conservatives like Newt and Cain in the primaries and now cries all day.
His ugly daughter seems to be the same
This isn’t the first time Abby Huntsman has criticized Trump. One would think her and Shep belong to the same party.
While I understand Trump’s criticisms of the intelligence and skepticism, it may have been easier to say he pressed Putin on it, there has been no verdict yet, but the U.S. responded and will respond again if there are any attacks. If he had done that, it would have alleviated an problems that he would have had from this.
That said, I understand his skepticism. If so, though, it would be good for him to put out a detailed statement detailing the full rationale behind his questioning from the Clinton investigation to the FBI to explain it. The media would be outraged of course, but a detailed rationale is necessary.
Trump believes the collusion accusation is connected to the meddling accusation, and you can really blame the media and left for politicizing this.
Everyone’s pissing themselves over what POTUS said at the joint presser with Putin. I can’t count how many times today I’ve heard some talking head or another saying, “Trump should have trusted his intelligence community”. Well, as anyone who’s been paying attention knows, it isn’t HIS intel community. They’ve been leading the charge against Trump since he announced his candidacy in 2015. So I don’t see how or why they should have an ounce of credibility.
I have found them to be pretty favorable, but I admit I do not watch their day programs much. I will watch Fox and Friends & the evening programs. When I have had them on, I find them better than CNN, though (minus Shep).
Oh, I agree 100%. This isn’t his intelligence community. This is Robert Mueller.
This feigned outrage has been planned long before today’s press conference.
The President would have been reckless and irresponsible to PUBLICLY call out the leader of any country, including Russia, with the leader standing next to him for a diplomatic meeting.
Besides, the President knows that Russia isn’t the only country that tries to meddle in our elections, and he also knows that he didn’t become president because he colluded with the Russians.
The President was not throwing "our people" under the bus. He was correctly repudiating the antics of rogue operators in our Government--despicable miscreants who advanced an anti-American agenda under Obama.
The young women being quoted has simply been used by the rogue faction who have successfully misdirected her focus.
This is interesting. This is Byron York’s take on all this (thread at link). I cite him because he has been very critical of the FBI & Mueller probe. He’s a pro-Trump guy:
Concerning Trump’s newser remarks specifically on Trump-Russia affair: Appalling. There have always been two parts to T-R investigation: the what-Russia-did part and the get-Trump part. Trump’s problem has always been his refusal/inability to separate the two... 1/

“He certainly has put forth his evidence of hacking,”
Really? BecauseI have seen nor heard ANY proof. Please direct me.
I rarely watch FOX anymore there are far too many on that channel who I can’t stand. Cavuto, Perino, Shemp just to name a few.
That report they put out the other day is what I was referring to. It contained some detail.
The only sane person in Washington these days is Donald Trump.
LOL, very popular isn’t she? I will assume that like Megan McCain this one got the job at FOX thanks to who her daddy is.
All them lip injections have turned her little brain to mush
FR seems to hold her in high regard due to her legs but this isn’t the first time she’s slighted Trump.
Yes, they do want WWIII so they can blame it on him. They’ve run out of excuses to impeach him and this would seal his fate.
Mr. b said the same.
