This is just using the machines as they are designed. The higher authority it asks permission from has been compromised and thousands of fraudulent cards have have been printed to carry it out.
Whatcha gonna do?
Guess I better drain my account...all $12.50 of it.
Do we have a zero hour?....................
Why is this only popping up in British newspapers?
Just go to a website and put in all your info and BINGO you’re protected ?

Perhaps if every person was implanted with a microchip and maybe a tattoo (Greek “charagma”) on their right hand (or forehead) then ATM’s would no longer be necessary.
Not that I’m saying it will eventually be going there. I’m just saying it will basically be going there, eventually (cough). Oops I did say it. Well, the charagma part for sure.
Several actions can be taken:
- review the number and permissions of accounts that administer withdrawal limits.
- limit those accounts to a small group of individuals
- require dual factor authentication for those accounts
- configure security and fraud monitoring to identify the use of those accounts and use pattern recognition to identify non-normal ATM withdrawal locations, times and amounts.
General consensus is this weekend though the FBI is being particularly vague.
My “free” accounts suddenly were about to have fees. The first one that hit got my attention, got it refunded and closed out my accounts.
I got a whopping $1.28. I think you’re rich compared to me, LOL.
I DO have a crisp $2 bill in the safe. Oh yeah, it’s protected, LOL.
Yeah, I’m just cynical enough to wonder if the Feral Beasts of Incompetence will do the hacking themselves.
Doesn't sound like it has anything to do with ATMs being hacked. Instead they are used the normal way with cloned cards.
Demonut Party Fund Raiser ?
Thanks for the info. I have found that withdrawal limits don’t apply in all situations if a remote request for funds is made (nothing criminal involved).
Seems to me that an actual criminal could possibly do the same thing.
I suppose keeping the bare min in the checking side of your account would be they way to go as most cards are linked to checking accounts.
If linked to savings with a large ball may want to move that too.
Keep what is needed linked to the card no more.
Any muslim holidays coming up?.................
I knew it! Russians!
Watch, if this happens, there will be liberals screaming “RUSSIANS!!!”
Because, you know, the Russians have taken over the G.O.P. No joke, actually saw an idiot liberal basically say that online the other day.
