Swalwell: We don't have enough evidence to impeach Trump
The Hill ^ | 08/26/18 10 | Lydia Wheeler

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) said Sunday there is not enough evidence yet to bring impeachment proceedings against President Trump.

On ABC’s "This Week with George Stephanopoulos," Swalwell said Trump is not above the law, but Democrats don’t have enough evidence yet to say that he has committed a high crime and misdemeanor.

“We don’t want to be as reckless with the facts as he is,” he said. “I think having thorough investigations, putting forth an impenetrable case, doing it in a bipartisan way is the proper way to do this, but we’re not there yet.”

Last week, President Trump’s former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to tax fraud and violating campaign finance laws “in coordinating and at the direction of a candidate for federal office,” indirectly referring to Trump.

“The best thing we can do is promise the American people if we are given the majority we will conduct the investigations Republicans are unwilling to conduct, including this campaign finance violation, including the questions around his contacts with the Russians and including his tax returns, which the American people have not seen but I promise a Democratic majority will ensure they do see,” Swalwell said on Sunday.

he has committed a high crime and misdemeanor.

Do you have to do both? I would have thought one or the other would be enough, but what do I know?

At least they are making their future intentions known to all.

Are contacts with Russians (before taking office) grounds for impeachments?

Is passing IRS audits year after year (before taking office) grounds for impeachment?

Is settling harassment claims (before taking office) grounds for impeachment?

Apparently that leads to a simple decision tree

If Republican -> Yes; If Democrat -> No

“Not enough”, as in “none at all”. They don’t even have a crime to go with any pre-imagined evidence.

The filthy RATS get more that way every day. What Trump did PRIOR to becoming President means nothing.

The RAT agenda contains nothing FOR America or Americans. Just things to DO TO America and its people. So this is what these degenerate criminals have....nothing but trouble making for Trump where it does not apply.

Keep at RATS!!! America is watching and listening.

I could write the script for Swalwell if he goes on the Sunday shows the sunday after the election in November and Democrats take the house.... “We now have enough evidence to impeach the President”

They don’t even have a specific suspected crime to justify a special counsel.

Clinton was impeached by the House but not convicted in the Senate. He left office with a 68% approval rating. Democrats know that the best way to play this is to continue to say Trump is bad but not actually bring charges since they’ve got nothing but gossip and BS.

They know there is nothing actionable.

Open declaration that the only thing that matters to them is impeachment, that is the goal. The only question is the best way to get there.

So by definition it is a witch Hunt.

Dems are still smarting over the fact that "shoo-in Hillary" failed to be dragged over the finish line----

<><> despite having the MSM in her pocket,

<><> tech titans working the electronic wizardry,

<><> the Obama intel apprat working 24/7, and,

<><> hundreds of millions of dollars spent.

The failure of every crooked political deal the Dems got rankles them. For these imbeciles, impeachment really is their only option.

Publicly, the leftwing commies are backing off the “I” word - only for fear it will gin-up the Rep base.

Rest assured, the totalitarian commies will continue their attempt to overturn the 2016 election...just as they tried to overturn the 2000 election.
