Nervous Democrats ask: Could Election Day disaster strike again? (Yes! Yes it could!)
McClatchy DC Bureau ^ | October 10, 2018 05:00 AM Updated October 10, 2018 11:30 AM | Alex Roarty

It was this week two years ago that Hillary Clinton’s victory looked assured, when the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape of Donald Trump bragging about sexual assault appeared all but certain to end his campaign.

Jesse Ferguson remembers it well. The deputy press secretary for Clinton’s campaign also remembers what happened a month later.

It’s why this veteran Democratic operative can’t shake the feeling that, as promising as the next election looks for his party, it might still all turn out wrong.

“Election Day will either prove to me I have PTSD or show I’ve been living déjà vu,” Ferguson said. “I just don’t know which yet.”

are now closely — and nervously — watching the current election near its end, wondering if history will repeat itself. This year, instead of trying to win the presidency, Democrats have placed an onus on trying to gain 23 House seats and win a majority.

The anxiety isn’t universal, with many party leaders professing confidently and repeatedly that this year really is different.

But even some of them acknowledge the similarities between the current and previous election: Trump is unpopular and beset by scandal, Democrats hold leads in the polls, and some Republicans are openly pessimistic.

Really? I can’t recall another president at a mid term election selling out of arenas. Barry was poison and sidelined for all of 2010 and 2014.

Read this, from 2010, Obama’s first midterms:

Barack Obama’s final midterm rally highlights declining popularity
Voter disenchantment with US president was reflected by 5,000 empty seats during event at Cleveland's Wolfstein centre

However, in contrast with the 2008 election, when across the US an Obama rally was a hot ticket and people had to be turned away, he attracted only 8,000 to the 13,000 capacity stadium. When he appeared at a rally in the same city in 2008 two days before the White House election, 80,000 turned out.

Compare that to the massive crowds Trump is getting at his rallies in his first midterms. Going by crowd size alone, I’d say the Democrats are toast in November.

I’m surprised they don’t accuse him of eating horses. After all, he once said “I’m so hungry I could eat a horse”.

What’s amazing to me is that the Arizona race is close.

Arizona gave us McCain and Flake.

Disaster is coming their way. The Kavanaugh fiasco, their violent behavior and other things have all but assured. There are forces opposed to them that they cannot fight nor defeat.

Trump approval on Rasmussen, 51%, what scandal? He already grabbed her by the pussy, and that got him elected {by females @52%}.

DemonRATs hold lead in the polls... three weeks out, and most polls, even the lefty house polls are tight and the pubbies are kicking their ass in the senate races...across the board.

I look for the pubbies to pick up 10-12 senate seats, and if I'm wrong by 25%, I can live with that.

And saying they will allow it is not the same as saying you succeeded at it.

As the saying goes...You can deny reality, but you
cannot deny the consequences of denying reality.

The demorats continuing delusion is leading them to
their justly deserved ruin.

"Until every vote has been counted, it’s not over."

You make an excellent point, but don't forget that not all votes are necessarily cast by voters. We need to be vigilant of all forms of vote fraud, also.

”Trump is unpopular and beset by scandal,”
Lol, Have you seen one of his rallies lately?
He’s a rock star.
Dems don’t stand a chance!
Election night is going to be funny as hell!

The spin the following day will be interesting.

Hi, HangThemHigh-!
Rest assured, HangThemHigh, that thought is never far from my mind. I want Republicans and other who will vote for Republicans to vote in such large #s that the Democrats cannot begin to make enough fake votes.
