A New Mexico resident didn’t just have to prove his love before getting married – he had to prove New Mexico is actually a state.

When Gavin Clarkson and his future bride applied for a marriage license in Washington, D.C., earlier this month, he was told he needed to provide an international passport to be approved.

I live in Alaska. Driving to visit friends in Az, I have to have a passport.

For flying, all that is needed is a passport card or a Real ID approved document.

“Show me your papers” is just around the corner....

the clerk checked with a supervisor several times before the office was able to confirm New Mexico has, in fact, been a state for 106 years.

So no only the clerk but her supervisors and their managers are all stupid. These are the people that control your lives.....................................

During my days booking bands, I remember when a new, green band from rural Louisiana asked their agent if they needed passports to go to New Mexico!

Not only that, people believe New Mexico is a desert. Flat as a pancake.

“Show me your papers” is just around the corner....

The old Soviet Union had domestic passports that were required for internal travel.

With the RealID requirements, we're not that far from the same thing here for domestic air travel.

I would assume that's because you have to go through British Columbia. Which I find suspicious, because to the best of my knowledge it's neither British nor Columbia.

That has been going on for years. When my dad got transferred to ABQ in ‘63 from London, some of my friends were concerned for our saftety what with the rampaging injuns and gun totin’ cowboys everywhere. And it’s still a SMDH situation. Beautiful state. Horrid politics. Of course Calvada is now in the same boat. Beautiful state, horrid politics. At least no state income tax here. Yet.
