Among the cartoons honoring the passing of President George Herbert Walker Bush are two which showing him arriving in Heaven and being by his wife of 73 years, Barbara, and his daughter Robin who died at the age of three from leukemia.

Since both images are owned by Gannett, only the links may be displayed.

Gary Varvel, The Indianapolis Star

Marshall Ramsey, The Clarion-Ledger (Jackson, Mississippi)

Are there any others that you would like to add?

Some of his worst decisions came about because he trusted others too much.

He trusted his chief of staff and longtime friend John Sununu to select a good pick for the Supreme Court. That's how we got David Souter.

And after the media and politicians of both parties had been warning for years of the perils of Deficits, he thought that he had a solid gentleman's agreement when he personally shook hands with House Speaker Foley & Senate Majority Leader Mitchell at a WH meeting to solve deficits from both ends at once - he agreed to sign the Dem's tax-increase bills, while they agreed to pass legislation to cut spending, including, most significantly, entitlement spending. (BTW, Sununu heavily influenced this deal too).

He kept his word and signed their big tax increase bill. The Dems in turn had promised a huge Deficit Mega-Summit that would find all manner of govt bloat to be slashed right & left. But their summit turned out to be a charade, as they were shocked, just shocked, to discover that every budget item they looked at turned out to be sorely in need of MORE funding, not less! Wow, who woulda thought?

The media pounded the electorate every night from then until the Nov '92 election with an endless loop of the video of GHWB saying emphatically, "Read my lips! NO .... NEW .... TAXES!" Klintoon even ran as the candidate who would actually LOWER taxes, and the media aided & abetted that blatant lie by comparing the two men as the Republican who raised your taxes, vs the Democrat who will lower them. (Remember their mantra of, "Governor of a small conservative Southern state"? So, you know, almost no different than a Republican, really. Absolutely 100% safe to vote for).

You judge a person by their friends and enemies.

Don’t think the Bushes are appreciably, if at all, less evil than the Clintons.

Reagan was forced to take the Bushes onto his ticket and into his admin.

You’ve got to be kidding me—you don’t really fall for that “Sununu misled me” crap, do you?

The press was on his case from Day 1 when he was president. Same for his son. Same for Trump.

The hyenas learned from the Nixon Coup that they held power to bring down presidents.

They have been nipping at the flanks of republican presidents since, relentless, 27/7, like a puppy barking in the garage.

Is their a cartoon of him signing Tom Foley’s tax hike and being humiliated in the 1992 election?

“I’m glad he lived to see Trump destroy the corrupt political dynasty he spawned,”

Well said.
