SEATTLE -- Southwest Airlines says a Dallas-bound flight returned to Seattle last weekend because a human heart was left on board.

The Seattle Times reports that Flight 3606 arrived in Seattle from Sacramento, California. Someone forgot to unload the heart before the plane left for Dallas, and the captain announced over Idaho they were turning back.

True story...back in the late 80s I was flying on a United Express flight to a small town in Iowa. Probably 15 seat aircraft. Inside the back of the cabin was a thatched canvas "wall" and the luggage was behind that. The holes in the "thatch" were probably 5" by 5", so you could turn around and see in the luggage hold.

I was seated in the back of the plane, and right behind me was an Igloo cooler, and it was marked "Human Eyes". Just interesting thinking that for the medical miracle of what I presume would have been a cornea transplant, you need a $12 Igloo cooler to make it happen.

And even tho I was in the back row, I felt like somebody behind me was watching....

You let a bunch of Aztecs into the country, and the next thing you know there are hearts left over from the sacrifices lying around everywhere.

I still chuckle at Tijeras Slim’s original “carrion luggage “ post from many years ago. Now I’ll have to add “comfort organ. “

...And the large organizations that facilitate organ transfers for transplants said they would never use a commercial flight for a heart. So there was a heart left onboard, but its destination and purpose are unclear.

Perhaps it was destined for the Baltimore Hospital for the Criminally Insane
