18 month old Richie needs your prayers

Prayer Warriors have seen this but we need everyone to offer prayers for Richie.

Picture a few months old but the only one I have available.

First a little history .... The last week of November, Richie received several vaccines which included the flu vaccine.

On December 2nd, he was hospitalized with paralysis of his arms and legs. He was put on a respirator and the outlook was bleak. I posted a note on FB asking for prayers from family and friends.

Richie is the grandson of a cousin who is more like a little brother than a cousin.

Thanks for the update- I was thinking about him this weekend.
There is a vaccine injury fund - they may already know about it, but I think it’s administered by the government. Someone has probably already mentioned it.

Hello everyone. I didn't come back last night because the update would have been awful.
Today's news is much better.

Grandpa and Grandma didn't make it to Fresno yesterday. Grandma has a recurring infection and it showed its ugly heard yesterday. She ended up in the ER and was admitted. She will be there until either Friday or Saturday.

And now back to Richie …

Brian was told that the morning ultra sound showed a mass in Richie’s bladder. A CT was done later in the day. This morning, I received a phone call from Grandpa. The CT showed nothing there. They will be doing a follow-up as a precautionary measure.

Richie took all of this in stride and as you can see was a happy little guy yesterday. He was in a very ‘talkative’ mood and entertained Dad with his antics.

Regarding the hospital bed issue, Brian was told that Richie is too young (small) for a regular hospital bed. He will be eligible when he turns 3 if it is still needed. Since he is only 20 months, a decision still needs to be made on the bed situation.

You know, if he needs a little elevation once in awhile, a foam wedge piece made just for this purpose may be all they need to use.

They prop him up. But I think when he gets home he can be made more comfortable. Also he will not be spending as much time in bed. He will probably spend a lot of time in his chair.

Yes ..... I think he will show lots of improvement once he gets home.

Also, he will need to get accustomed to living in a normal environment instead of bright lights and constant activity all night.

Beautiful boy. Going to be a singer, I see.;) What caused them to do a CT scan of his bladder, in the first place? I didn’t know he was having any trouble there.

I didn’t ask why they did the ultra sound. I will ask. The ultra sound indicated a mass so they did the CT scan,

Such a sweet voice and a happy child... Still praying that he will be running and playing again soon... Thank you again for the videos.

Thankful that the mass is not there now, but also that Richie’s doctors are being extra cautious by checking again.
