The rag is owned by Advance Publications.
This decision surprises the ever-livin’ snot outta me.
Wonder if some YUGE advertiser/s threatened to pull the plug?

Bullshit! The only mistake made was that he did not think that he would get called on it. Good for the newspaper for dropping him.

If he hadn’t tweeted that out, the pretend “whoops, wrong cartoon” would have allowed the newspaper to have an excuse to let him say. Well, as we can see he’s not known for cleverness.

Might have gotten away with the “Easter Egg” had he not called attention to it via twitter.

Things like this are so juvenile and unprofessional. He’s not some political rebel. He’s a little kid making fart jokes in a public forum and thinking he’s profound for doing it.

That strip routinely runs ‘hate your President’ crap... my local paper carries it too. Disgusting ...

In a Huff Post story, he admitted to scribbling it a couple months ago, annoyed at something the president said and then forgot about it... Of course, he also promises to never do it again.
A number of papers have dropped the strip; particularly of note, the strip invited kids to color it. Guess we know which artist will be doing the 2020 DNC programs now.

The issue was probably not the attack on Trump; but rather, the profanity. If he’d kept the hidden message “G-rated”, there would probably be no problem.

Tempted to, but won’t sign up just to reply. One of the commenters snarky response is “not my president”. Well, Sweetcheeks, if he isn’t your president, then you can’t impeach him. Now gfy.

This surprises me, however, in spite of some of the local politics, the Syracuse area tends towards the more conservative and civil side.
It does not surprise me that advertisers would have threatened to pull advertising revenue.

Well, what I'm feeling about NS being pulled by a couple members of the dead tree/activist scribbler claque ain't exactly schadenfreude, but it ain't bad.
