The FBI and IRS raided one of her houses in Baltimore, her office in City Hall, and one of her non-profit offices. This news made my morning. More than a decade ago I was interviewed for a real estate job by some upper level officials of the Baltimore City government. After going over my resume, one of the interviewers asked me to describe some of my most rewarding jobs and the first one I described was working with the U.S. Attorney and local FBI field office to help prosecute real estate appraisers in perhaps the first flipping case in the country. At the mention of “ working with the F.B.I.”, I caught out of the corner of my eye two of the officials sitting in on my interview glancing at each other with silent “WTF’s” on their lips. Needless to say this white man did not get the job. I had to stop myself from laughing at the moment it was so obvious that they would have been scared sh*tless to hire me. So today’s news is quite gratifying and I hope that the scope of the investigation is quite broad.

Up to this point, Pugh, a Democrat, has continued to resist calls for her resignation, even as the Maryland Office of the State Prosecutor and the city’s ethics board have launched investigations into whether the book sales broke any laws or city rules.
Tens of thousands of copies of Pugh’s Healthy Holly, about a young black girl who promotes healthy eating and exercise, were reportedly sold to several entities that have business with the city.
Pugh reportedly collected some $800,000 over the years in connection with the books.

Remember back a few years ago when the mayor (is it the same one) said the fine lads of her city were just letting off some steam? Those fine lads assured us that they would police themselves once law enforcement stopped terrorizing them in their own communities.
Pugh “sold” $800k worth of books at $5 each. (160,000 books).
She reported her publishing cost at $4 each.
She reported a gain of $1 per book.
Her publisher says he only printed 60,000 books at a cost of less than $1
per book. So Pugh is in big trouble for fraud and unreported income.
The beautiful thing is her buddy - Jill Carter - a black state senator jammed
her when she called for U of Md Medical Network board to be investigated
for discriminatory purchasing practices - she thought she was going to get
a bunch of old white guys and her BFF is going to jail.
