Hey, here’s an idea .... my son-in-law & daughter and family have to live with us right now so they can save up for a down payment on decent housing in this area. So what about Bernie selling one of his “extra” houses and sharing the wealth with us so the kids can have a house of their own right now... it’s only FAIR!

Socialism / Marxism is impossible with two things: a non fiat (usually gold) currency and a freedom for citizens to bear arms.

From what I understand, there has been a wealth transfer from working people to the Welfare State of some 22 trillion dollars.

The debate is not about capitalism vs. socialism. We have implemented virtually every aspect of progressive socialism since the early 1930’s including Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, national minimum wage, state aid to women and children, and a very progressive graduated income tax. The debate that remains is between freedom vs. serfdom under central state control. Bernie’s revolution would transform us into China where the Communist Party controls the economy through state owned enterprises, banks, and government bureaucracy. What makes America exceptional is that we choose freedom over serfdom. At least we have up until now.
This is why he won’t even get the Dem nomination.

Does he think the Founders envisioned a federal government in which literally a few hundred people call the shots for everyone else down to the smallest details of their lives? I don't think they did. The problem that we are pretty much already there, and it's a small step to the authoritarianism he wants.
He needs to be asked How many millions will have to be killed and jailed to implement his socialist utopia?
