Hurricane Dorian battered St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and brushing Puerto Rico. Taking aim at the Florida Atlantic Coastline, Hurricane Dorian is projected to be a major hurricane (Category 3) at landfall.

* North of Deerfield Beach to Sebastian Inlet
A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for:
* North of Golden Beach to Deerfield Beach
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles from the center,
and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles.
***Atlantic Coastal areas from much of the Florida peninsula to
SE VA are within the forecast cone.***

Per Jim Cantor (IIRC) on TWC, those eyelash looking things in the outer bands that are perpendicular to the eye are some kind of cirrus clouds that indicate further strengthening.

Absolutely agree! When we recall, for example, Hurricanes Charlie, Matthew and Irma which all veered to a different landfall from the line in the center of the forecast track...it is prudent to prepare as long as you are in any portion of the cone of doom.
This monster storm deserves attention and preparedness. Do not follow spaghetti models for storm preparation decisions.
